Is blizzard ready for 1 million + classic players?

By the way, China has over 300 BfA servers. They’re launching Classic with 8.

All your posts say the same thing Galdor: current iteration of WoW is very bad.

“I’m outta my league so I’ll keep yelping that BfA is bad as if that has any relevance to the conversation at hand.”

‘Full’ can mean anything blizzard wants it to mean, there’s no law or oath in place here. They’ve gone to great lengths to try and deceive people about their servers health and population (cross realm zoning). And they’ve gone to great lengths to hide BFA’s true sub numbers (developing a new shareholder reporting metric).

If everything you claim was true why are they being so secretive and misleading? Doesn’t add up friend. Logically their actions are consistent with having almost 200 ghosttowns.

Ahahahah, okay. These are the excuses I was looking forward too. Keep em’ coming! What else are you going to use as an excuse?

Everyone already knows it lol. Blizzards knows it too.

Just that I think you’re overestimating the true number of players logging on regularly. And maybe underselling classic but I can say with certainty that I have no idea what to expect from the launch. :scream_cat:

Full means it’s full. I’m on a dead realm, it’s almost always Low pop. I’m CRZ’d with plenty of other realms, CRZ has:

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH THE REALM’S POPULATION DESIGNATION.

omg, can we just lock this thread down please?

Meanwhile you can’t argue or dispute why blizzard has been so deceptive with cross realm zoning to artificially bolster populations or so secretive with not reporting sub numbers. Those facts don’t support your narrative

Why do no other MMORPG’s give out definitive sub counts?

Guess they’re being “secretive”.

Anyways, I’m done with this pointless debacle. I’m right and you’ll all be coming up with plenty of excuses on launch day.

Awww, Muffin. I know it’s tough being wrong but you’ll get used to it when you’re older.

This is 100% true and stated by every business magazine on the topic. When you have 10 million Subs and drop down to 5 million it’s time to stop reporting them before they drop even further. That is why they changed the metric to play time instead of Sub count. If you can’t win change the game.

If a business has something good to report they will!! If Blizzard were to ever go over 10 million subs again and go back to being a successful company. They would report it. As of now they rely on “Whaling” tactics that is to get 100’s of dollars from a webshop from less players instead of actually make good expansions that have happy fans and “HUGE” Sub numbers.

Which is a bad business model that never works out! The last hope is Classic to save them. To have happy customers and big sub numbers again.

Sub count is the metric for success for this game. It’s the number that matters.

Facts are Facts

Blizzard is ready for 10+ million Subs and they desperately need it. Don’t worry though finally millions of WoW players can return to a version of WoW that not only is playable but a superior game than anything that has been released by Blizzard in over a decade.

Classic is the Future of WoW

1 million is probably accurate if we are including the retail players who have free access.

You are painfully delusional. I would guess that at absolute best a million people show up in the first few days. “10+ million” is laughable.

Also, superior is a stretch. Vanilla was better where it counted, but it was not overall a superior game. There are lots of things about Classic that will change if they decide to support it into the future, for all the exact same reasons they changed them last time: People were unhappy…

I just hope they do a better job this time and focus on the metrics of community, difficulty and investment.

And when they rebalance classes (Which they will, you’re dumb if you think otherwise), don’t just dice them up into a bunch of pieces that are exclusive to one another.

From what I can find, there were 88 servers released on NA for Vanilla launch. That number climbed to about 180 right before TBC (8 million subs).

When there ends up being fewer than 30 servers in NA after layering is removed, what is your excuse going to be that allows you to continue to claim there’s 10 million subs?

  • Everyone’s subbed but not playing because Classic is so fun you only need to play for 5 minutes a day to feel satisfied, so they don’t need many servers?

  • The servers have 30k population caps?

  • All those Vanilla realms were dead and you only need 10 servers per region to hold 10 million players?

What is your excuse going to be?

200k players in 2019 at open would actually surprise me. Of course online, everyone can’t wait. But the people I talk to in person about it:

I mean, sure yeah i might try it
or
I’ve been thinking about it but probably not

I mean, personally I’m going to buy blackout curtains and a week supply of pizza bites. But most people I talk to don’t seem extremely interested unless I’m on the classic forums specifically.

I’ve been disillusioned since half way through Cata when cross realm zones were brought in, every expansion i play for a week if that then stop playing. I cant wait for a return to old times but one thing makes me nervous (Layering) and if it continues for too long i will stop playing. I hate the feeling of not being in a continuous world and it breaks immersion. I have multiple old buddies coming back for classic. Some who have not played since Wrath finished up. Going to be epic.
