How many more expansions is it going to be the worst tank by a coutnry mile.
They are unfortunately in the group of specs that very few people play even when they are good, but almost never hit meta status due to, ironically, not that many people playing them since whenever they get to that point people seem to complain how good their performance gets (Feral, Brewmaster, Survival are some examples).
Brewmaster would probably be easily one of the most fun tanks if they just got a proper rework to bring them to the level other tanks have in all content, since the main thing I always seem to hear is something along the lines of âwell theyâre a great raid tankâ.
the solution is to make it 50% better then all other tanks forcing meta chases to switch and people who complain get muted in game and banned from forums.
The problem is theyâve been meta in Raids many times because of Stagger. So meta that there were Seasons where Brewmasters could single Tank fights because they were almost un-killable.
Itâs similar to how Blizzard struggles to balance great PVP specs for PVE. Small Buffs for PVE can make them too strong in PVP and buffing them now for M+ would likely bust them in Raids again.
I think Blizzard just doesnât know how to balance stagger. The whole spec needs a rework.
Ah, I was waiting for a thread like this.
With the exp buff i decided to make a new BrM because I stopped/never went back several years ago (my ww/mist monk is my favorite alt). New alt is ummmm 30 now iirc and my god is the difference very very noticeable between him and the prot tank I am also leveling. She is amazing, tanky as hell and decent on dps. I donât think about a fight, I just charge on in there. Its fantastic and I was missing out not having a prot warr alt.
Now the little BrM? Ugh, he is sloggy as heck. What the prot can get thru in two seconds flat, he struggles with. If the stars donât align, I end up having to slowly punch things to death. He actually takes damage (same zillion and a half buffs from the leveling event as the prot). Weak, weak weakâŚ
Yâall ainât kidding. BrM is awful especially when you compare it to all the other tank specs.
At this point I am positive itâs user error.
One of my favorite things I found out when talking with my Prot Warrior best friend is that Ignore Painâs shield is basically just as numerically high of an absorb as Celestial Brew, but the important context is that IP is a no cool down rage dump that can be used almost constantly while the other is a baseline 45 second cool down.
They definitely seem like theyâre too afraid to touch it since as mentioned they are usually very good raid tanks, but they are also pretty much the only tank spec I know of that has this issue where they are drastically more effective in one set of content compared to the other.
It really sucks because thematically Brewmaster is a lot of fun and wish they felt better to play than basically every other tank spec.
Brewmaster has fallen behind the other tanks largely because it didnât get a full design pass when Dragonflight came out.
Monk was the very last class to be released, at the tail-end of beta, under the new talent system, etc.
And it was a botched job. Brewmaster is just a mess. They put zero time into it, and it shows.
The best illustration of this, is if you took the top 4 rows of the Brewmaster spec tree, and made them all baseline - which would free up 9 talent points - it wouldnât even matter, because thereâs nothing in the talent tree worth taking.
Itâs THAT bad.
They have given Brew some buffs, but mostly it could benefit from a âkitâ uplift.
I think it should start with RoP and then look at a few others.
They are already OP there is zero need for any brewmaster buffs right now.
- people donât know how to play it
- it lacks things in its kit that others get for free. pulled 3 casters that arenât stacked with a brew? well hope your dps help you kick/grip/whatever.
- monk dev has been afk since forever
really if you know how to play it itâs decent, but playing brm is choosing to play on hardmode.
Do non-brew tank players want brew to be meta? I see some people asking for brew buffs this patch. I guess what goes around comes around but I heard a season with a brew meta is going to be a tough season to find tanks.
What if we just didnât have these COLOSSAL gaps in performance between specs, so it didnât really matter that much if somebody was âmetaâ or not?
The difference beetween Brewmaster and VDH or Prot Paladin isnât tiny. It isnât âpeople will make a big deal out of a 0.1% differenceâ or âpeople will make a mountain out of a molehillâ. It really is a mountain-sized gap in performance.
For example, get rid of all the VDH Sigils, and get rid of Avengerâs Shield. That would narrow the gap significantly.
And then the usual reply to that is âwhy you gotta ask for nerfs, why donât you ask for Brewmaster buffs instead?â
We. Are.
I wonder, do you think Blizz is really capable of that balancing? Given how brew is and was for so long, do you trust them to all of a sudden get close?
Or maybe would they do their usual whack a mole balancing style and make brew meta by a country mile?
Do I think Blizzard is capable of removing Avengerâs Shield and Sigils from the game? Sure.
They arenât going to do that, you see. Anything that seems normal or like it would work, they have to do something 10x weirder than that. They would instead give brew crackling jade lightning buffed by 3000%
BrM doesnât need buffs it needs a full rework. The current design will always break on tuning, either itâll be OP in raid or useless in M+.
For what itâs worth I basically have most tanks, then play whatever I like by season usually what feels more fun at the time.
Brewmaster being a part of that roster has my whole support, even when Iâm playing something else.
just have seperate balancing for each type of content.
Super easy to balance between raid and dungeon. Evokers alreadsy have things thate are stronger when in 5 mans then when in raids.
