Droité just wants to live in a world where the Night Elves didn’t have to misdirect their entire armed forces to the other side of the continent for the Horde to have a chance to make it through Ashenvale.
The Night Elves didn’t even need the Wild Gods or the Mountain Giants or even Tyrande there to almost win the War of the Thorns, and then obviously did win Darkshore back when things were in their favor again.
True, but my point is … the Wild Gods, the Aspects, the Dragonflights, the Stone Giants … the don’t owe the NEs jack. They truly don’t. They don’t have an obligation to come bail them out whenever they need it. They’ve been forced to out of necessity several times, but that’s about it. Some groups like the Greens have a very positive relationship with them, but even still … expecting any of these groups to get directly involved in what appeared to be on the surface just a military conflict between two political powers seems remote.
Though, to note, the Night Elves were able to recruit the Stone Giants back in Cataclysm down in Feralas. For all we know the Stone Giants were down with the rest of the Night Elves’ main forces thereat when the Night Elves were preparing to take on the Horde’s entire army at Silithus.
What does it mean to take a “volunteer” and “indenture” them. Are you saying they all suddenly ran up big debts with the Alliance and have to work them off? Because otherwise it mean coercion.
Well, looking at the dictionary it means an agreement was made between those volunteers and the Alliance commander at the airstrip that the Pandaren would work there.
Agreed. Night Elves and Worgen should be the two races on the Alliance that are “darker”, the races that the rest of the Alliance is just like “whoa… I am glad they are on our side, I don’t want to piss them off.” And the Horde is the same way, they are just like damn I thought we were the savage ones they give us a run for our money!
But nah, worgen are relegated to tea sipping, furry stormwind humans while Night Elves are defanged to be punching bags.
Also to note, in Shadowlands when Ysera finds out about Teldrassil she says she would have helped the Night Elves if she had been alive. And Ysera is the one who gives the Ardenweald player quests into the Maw to specifically save the Night Elves that died during the War of the Thorns.
All for that precious precious Human Potential my friend. Don’t worry, we’ll likely get a scenario where Anduin finally ascends to his Golden Throne so he can moralize to the multiverse why Human Potential is precious and all need to bow before the stormwind humans.
And I hate myself for even typing that. I’m going to go slink away now.
They drew inspiration from the folks at Fox Studios who thought they could do better with X-Men Dark Phoenix then the guys that did the Dark Phoenix stuff in X-Men Last Stand.
From wikipedia…
" An indentured servant or indentured laborer is an employee (indenturee) within a system of [unfree labor] who is bound by a signed or forced contract ([indenture] to work without pay for the owner of the indenture for a period of time."
So we are presuming that the Pandaren’s signed contracts that wouldn’t let them leave for no reason or compensation?
Well, I guess they question is why they would sign contracts they can’t get out which force them to work for the Alliance and would do so for no gain. All the usual reasons would be described as “exploitative” at best. And “coercive” at worst.
Good question. I don’t have the answer as the quests don’t give anymore details. We know the Pandaren volunteered to help, which already suggests they were working for no compensation to begin with.
You’re not wrong. The commander was infected by the Sha energies, so it was clearly meant to be coercive/exploitative, but calling the Pandaren, ‘Slaves,’ is factually incorrect.
I’d give props to the Quest designers, They actually did a great job with a lot of the questing through both Horde and alliance zones.
Yet the main story and war campaign (at least on the Horde side) was utterly redundant and we had already had it before. We had terrible characters who acted completely out of character to make it work and a repeated premises. Even the lead up to Shadowlands is a sad repeat of WOD.
I really hope blizzard understand that No one like the way Anduin is portrayed currently and either have him do a significant change to make him Fallible and not so god damn perfect. They also really need to focus on Developing actual Horde characters, Not Baine or Calia who are basically alliance characters, But actual Horde character who embodies the the strength and Honor mentality, a no non sense character who doesn’t want anything to do with the Alliance.
This is kind of why I lowkey want them to bring some character back like Cairne and Vol’jin this expansion. I know some people will hate the idea, but like we have seen that people can leave the Shadowlands in the Mawsworn, and Draka in the Afterlives video.
Yeah I say that’s about right. The Horde is at its lowest and I’m just too broken to even care now. Alliance could attack and burn Orgrimmar to the ground and it wouldn’t phase me one bit.
Blizzard has said that writing good guys is boring. Presumably, writing an honorable Horde that doesn’t just use honor as an excuse to be the bad guys, isn’t as fun for the devs as the villain bat/“all is forgiven” cycle. And we as players are just supposed to go along with it.
But for me…I can’t justify why my Horde Pandaren are still in the Horde. The belf I boosted has done literally nothing but stand in Dazar’alor and sometimes rescue packages from a startled brutasaur. And the only Horde character I still have the heart to play is my vulpera, who will be my Horde main for SL.
