Is BFA dead when vanilla comes out?

I think the big thing people seem to forget is the QOL improvements over the years, remember when the main attack of the paladin was auto-attack? Pepperidge farm remembers

Will BfA be dead when Classic launches? No.

Will the devs put BfA into a medically induced coma when Classic launches? Magic 8-ball says ā€œsigns point to yes.ā€

/moo :cow:

Itā€™s going to be a while until most of the Classic players are ready for Onyxia let alone MC. Remember itā€™s not like live where you can jump into the new Raid after hitting the level cap.

Getting to 60 took around 12 days /played for a new player in Vanilla. Trim that to 10 days /played for a more experienced player. Then you need to farm Dungeons as well as get through all the Onyxia pre-quests including the horrible prison break. Dungeons were a multi hour commitment for each run.

I can see Classic keeping people invested until the next x-pac comes along and maybe thatā€™s Blizzardā€™s plan.

Ideally it would be classic, then a different version of WoD, then BC, then Wrath, but no Cata. It should end there. But I donā€™t see that happening. The whole BC is after WoD is weird storywise.

Itā€™s dead already, as far as Iā€™m concerned.

Iā€™m sorry, but where have you been? For 2-3 months weā€™ve been hearing about 8.2, the stories coming out of 8.2, within the last 2-3 months we got Crucible of Storms. I mean hell, this came out this last week:

This is BfA story right here?

Not to mention a lot of patch updates regarding Mechagon and Nazjatar, raid testing for Palace of Azshara, discussion of all the new mounts coming, the new dungeon is being test, etc. etc.

The forums have been on fire with people upset about the story direction (Alliance for that LOL answer about Tyrande, Horde about Sylvanas being yet again the big bad/being forced to stand against Sylvanas because Blizzard wants to retread MoP).

Iā€™m sorry, I have no idea where youā€™ve been reading or what, butā€¦thereā€™s been a LOT of BfA news.

On topic, Classic is Classic. People have been asking for it for a while, and Iā€™m glad theyā€™re getting what they want. I can only hope that the popularity of Classic will give the developers ideas to further improve the Live servers (I donā€™t want Classic overhauls, but things like getting more spells than I lose every expansion would be a good start), not to mention since Classic requires an active sub yet there wonā€™t be any updates except for schedules phase releases, if people sub just for Classic, that money goes back into Live for the time being. Itā€™s a good thing for Blizzard as a whole.

Nope atleast not for me.

I expect that Classic servers will be a niche when the initial excitement dies away.
Retail will always be king by a lot I think.

Iā€™m not too sure about that, streamers are leveling fairly quickly and theres tons of guides out there now to help people out with leveling and quests compared to back in the day. (even mass pulling mobs to level faster) There is still going to be those groups of people with the ā€˜I need to get to 60 fast and do end content as fast as possibleā€™

BFA will be just fine when classic comes out sure classic will get a big jump with players but once the nostalgia wears off it will settle down to the dedicated players.

BfA is pretty close to dead without the help of classic.

Down with the King!
Pirchforks, anyone?

It wont be nearly as long now as it was in 2004. People already know the mechanics, routes, dungs, everything. Betas been open for only what, 4 or 5 days? Players are already capping out at lvl 30. Theyā€™re running dungs with 0 wipes, sometimes even 0 deaths. This is 2019, it wont be even remotely as long until we see MC raid vids on YouTube.

I agree with all of this, except the WoD part. WoD didnā€™t launch until after Pandaria, so would be out of sequence with the expansions. But Classic, BC and WotLK were all awesome, and Iā€™d play through them again.

There were plenty of leveling guides in Vanilla. I used James guide which was amazing but it still took a while to get a toon to 60. Of course thereā€™ll be the power leveling folks who no life it but it will still take multiple days /played.

Iā€™m talking about the average player though not the Asmongold types.

BFA is already dead. It will lose players when classic drops but people will come back when the buzz of classic wears off or is they realize they dont enjoy classic.

But dont kid yourself, BFA is dead.

Those players have been streaming almost continuously. Level 30 in 4 or 5 days as you just said. Think about that for a moment compared to live.

People knew the best routes in Vanilla after their first toon. There were great guides that were incredibly efficient. It still took a while to cap. I think the fastest I leveled was my Shadow Priest in around 8 days /played. That was my third 60.

/shrug I think for players tired of the ups and downs of live WOW there will be plenty of things to hold them in Classic.

More like BfA will go into a coma but recover after people walk around dying and not being able to dress well.

BfA isnā€™t dead. It just stinks.
Retail wonā€™t die for a very long time, but I hope itā€™s somewhat eye opening how shallow it has become and how the people that love BfA would be happier playing a wow themed version of the sims.
