Round and curvy. I’d post pics but I’d end up in forum jail again.
Its a cube.
Its a triangle.
Its a diamond.
Its a disc.
Its a ball.
Lets find out.
it’s a world that is a flat disc sitting on top of four elephants astride the shell of a giant turtle named Great A’Tuin
Lore = spherical.
Unavoidable technical game mechanics limitation = flat.
It’s a common error to equate game mechanics to lore.
There are many Azeroths in the multiversum, which differ by time and appearance, Ask Chromie about these, she can see all of them.
Currently we know about Azeroths in these states: Retail, The End Time, Azmerloth, Cata Classic, Classic Fresh, Season of Discovery and Plunderstorm. There was also one called Remix, but it seems this one disappeared.
Some of the multiversums have close quantum states, so it possible to travel from Retail to Azmerloth and The End Time. There are also pocket dimensions like Darnassus in Retail.
So it is proven there are more than 3 dimensions to consider.
Round in reality, flat in an earthens mind.
This is the only answer I came to see.
Last I checked, azeroth and all of its inhabitants are 2 dimensional.
We will know when she gets a body, for now she is just a worldsoul.
Khadgar has teleported me all over the world and the time of day didn’t change, so clearly it’s flat… RIP Khadgar miss you buddy… gonna respawn you in another timeline.
Developer shortcuts for not wanting to create a fully 3D globe to traverse. And the curve of the planet is gentle enough that “flat” is a close enough visual approximation for the (probably misrepresented) scales we’re working on.
I doubt Azeroth will be “flat”, at least comparing nearly every other female character in the game & setting. We’ll be in the “vast tracts of land” and “rolling hills” territory.
I’m going with this. Otherwise, wouldnt it be faster to travel West from Kalimdor (by boat) to get to the Eastern Kingdoms instead of through the ocean/maelstrom and past Zandalar/Broken Isles/Kul Tiras? Which would mean an entire other side of the world thats big enough to warrant not boating in that direction.
Alright roundists, explain why nobody sails off the edge of the map?? It’s called the Forbidding sea for a reason, because you’ll fall off!
We see it in Ulduar, there is a 3-D model of Azeroth. As I recall there was some grumbling of devs vs designers in that it “set” the world whereas devs had expansions in mind.
Both were magically obscured. Cheap but effective way of adding new land masses
It would legit be pretty cool if the continent of the Arathi were legit on an “opposite” time zone as the rest of (discovered thus far) Azeroth.
It’s a hyperbolic planet .
There was a GoFundMe to prove the Earth was flat. They set up a laser a mile (or more?) from a target, both sea level. The experiment proved the opposite, because they had to raise the target due to the curvature of the earth lmao
But they still trot out people who say “just look at the horizon! You’ll never see a curve!”
And I get the mental image of an ant saying the same thing to the other ants who all think that one is nuts.
It’s flat and round. Hilly and cavernous. It’s got really, really, tall mountains and very, very deep bodies of water. It’s filled with friends and enemies. Partners and Rivals. The one time home of a coming and going of over 13 million players. It’s the best place on earth.
