Is anyone having issues launching their game?

i force launch it with directx 11 and it launches but the game is laggy mess. was fine couple of days ago

Having same issue. Went to Darkmoon, goofed around for a few minutes, then all of a sudden the NPCs in the Faire proper disappeared, couldn’t mount, couldn’t speak to the remaining NPCs, there was no portal to exit on the dock like usual, couldn’t log out, and couldn’t exit game without hard quitting.

EDIT: Seems to be working now. Unsure of what might have caused the issue.

Wills Sophos eventually fix this issue?

Yep, kinda tired of dealing with this issue. Cancelled my sub until they fix the problem that’s been around for 10 days now.

Wouldn’t be as bad an issue if they would just acknowledge the problem, tell us they are working on it and give us a rough time frame, but no, total silence as far as I can see. Nothing on the launcher and, considering how many people are affected, if they did respond, WoWHead or IcyVeins would have picked it up.

I suggest everyone votes with their wallet… its the only thing they can hear from your average subscriber

It’s not Blizzard’s software causing the issue, so it’s unclear what sort of response you’re looking for. They can’t make Sophos update their software.

The point remains… Bliz customers cannot use their product because of some 3rd party security app? And cannot pressure them to fix it or provide an alternative?

And they can’t even acknowledge the problem exists?

How smart is it to either let a 3rd party handle an aspect of your product, or even build your product to set yourself up for this kind of thing?

So I guess at any point, should Sophos decide to shut down WoW, Bliz has no recourse?
LOL

Blizzard isn’t Sophos’ customer, you are. You should be pressuring them to fix it.

I read the first 50 posts where everyone was thinking it was drivers. Anyways canceled sub until they figure it out at Sophos. Know this isn’t blizzards problem officially but honestly I’m not going into deep technical aspects of my anti-virus to play a game that shouldn’t trigger it in the first place…

That’s one way to look at it, I guess.

No I am not Sophos customer. I have never entered into and agreement with them or sent them any money. If companies I patronage utilize them, then that is on them, not me.

Blizz is the provider of WoW, which is the only program I have with this problem. It is absolutely on them to fix the problem, because if they do not, the will start hemorrhaging subscribers. No one wants to pay for a game they cant play.

I have no idea what you mean here. Blizzard doesn’t use Sophos, it’s an app the end-user has on their PC (maybe as part of a work organization). If you’re crashing for another reason, you should make your own thread.

The only program you use, but it’s possible you’d have this with others.

I’ve heard this hyperbolic line of thinking before. Not everyone will believe one company should boss around another company when they have no monetary ties to each other.

I agree with you
If blizzard is updating games that trigger threat detection it should investigate this issue and patch the patch.

THIS ^^^

Mass WoW players all didn’t suddenly download or install software simultaneously, Sophos or otherwise, that is causing this problem, it is something Blizz did or should have done that they didnt do. Maybe they were unaware of changes coming down the pipeline from other companies, but this does NOT explain why they cannot come out and acknowledge the problem and lets us know what to do or what they are doing.

AS IS TYPICAL, the biggest issue here is NOT the actual problem, but the lack of any communication about it from Blizz. The technical problem will eventually get fixed, but the communication problem? Yeah sure

Anti virus and threat detection out weighs world of Warcraft players.
All they are doing is limiting there player base.

Picture being a new player and it’s just black screen at launch you’d just give up and call it buggy.

Thanks for this info, bro has got to look into this, since he changed the pk bu accident due to a stroke ,omg.

i got a upgrade now i cant even turn off my mouse is acting funny to if blizzard gonna put stuff on my computer with out my permission im put a autenticator on them with a your fired hell i know the guys who made Microsoft

it has been getting worse again, after a few days of it working and letting me log in, I keep getting game crashes and errors.

Having the same issue…we should have known this was coming. Big patch and they went and screwed something up. Cant even login now as it says battle.net went to sleep with some weird error code. Figures…

Having the same issue - have Sophos Endpoint installed for work and am 99% sure this is preventing the game from launching. Did the same thing when Overwatch 2 went live.

System admin is the CEO…not going to bother him for the password to make a local exception because I want to play WoW on the work machine lol.

I can find no evidence of “Sophos” on my personal home computer, however I do run Avast, and I’ve discovered by disabling Avast, the problem goes away.

But there is no way I an going to disable/enable my Virus software every time I want to play WoW.

And with Blizz’s complete lack of interest in even acknowledging, much less insuring their software is compatible with major antivirus, is mind boggling… it just points to them not caring as this has been going on for weeks.

If the cash shop was this broke, it would get patched that very day.
