I mostly play this game to collect stuff, especially transmog, and it really sucks coming back to the game and seeing they added a bunch of cool stuff but you have no idea when it will come back around to collect, if it ever does. There are a bunch of items right now on the Trading Post and for events that I want, but I just look at them all and how I’ll have to hurry and collect them before time runs out and how just… unfun and awful that sounds. And I just go “why bother?” and don’t bother opening the game.
I like playing this game. I like collecting things in this game. But the things being limited time just takes all of the fun out of collecting anything. It just makes playing this game and collecting things not fun for me anymore. I genuinely have more fun in this game just running old raids and collecting transmog and stuff because I know I can do it at any time whenever I feel like, even though many of the old raid transmogs don’t look anywhere as good as the new items coming out recently.
It just feels like what is the point of hurrying up and rushing to collect cool outfits to then do more content to hurry up and rush and collect more cool outfits? Limited time items make this game less entertaining and relaxing to play. I find myself just feeling stressed trying to collect limited time items and just playing something else that is more chill. I really don’t enjoy feeling rushed or stressed in my free time, why would I spend my free time playing a game that makes me feel that way? The appeal to FOMO just makes this game worse to play for me.
Also, gives me that same feeling of doing something in this game with a timer. Like a quest or M+. Can no one else relate to that when it comes to collecting things that are limited time?
No. Most things with a time limit in wow are fairly easy to obtain.
Others are meant to take awhile like holiday stuff and trading post. But good news, they always return to continue the collecting.
And fomo for the trading post is incorrect. Its literally a rotating stock. If you miss it now, just get it next time. You don’t need everything right now. Even further proven by the discount shop.
People will say no because they feel the need to be superior to others by having been around in time to grab an item. It matters to them more that others DON’T have what they have.
I don’t play this game year round though, I like to take breaks and play other things like most people who play this game. It sucks to come back to this game and have missed out on something and have to wait almost a full year to get it again. And god forbid you decide to come back when the time to get a limited time item is almost over and you gotta desperately rush through trying to get it.
I’m kinda just over it. I’d rather feel like when I come back to this game there’s a bunch of stuff and content waiting for me to collect a bunch of cool things. Rather than coming back to this game, seeing something cool, only to be met with “wait a year and hope you’re still playing and you can get it”.
It’s just like, ugh, forget it. I’ll just play something else with stuff to collect and content to do now then.
Sorry but that’s no ones fault but your own.
If you miss it, you miss it. If you want all the things, stay subbed.
You can’t expect things to wait for you just because.
And this month literally proves if you miss it, it will come back. Like items we thought were exclusives made returns.
So if you want it, play the game. Beyond that I don’t know what to tell you.
I never really enjoyed it… I would have everything be earnable in the game. PvP seasons are the sore spot since you can’t really replicate a season. CM rewards for example would be easy to reintroduce via Mythic plus.
I think we’re discussing two different things. I’m not talking about purely wanting the things.
I enjoy the gameplay of collecting things. That is the fun of it for me. I don’t even really care what the things are that I’m collecting. Although many of them are great, 10/10 job art team.
But the things being limited time either makes me unable to collect the things at all and have to wait to do the collecting gameplay, or have to rush through collecting them. And it makes the gameplay of collecting things in this game worse off. Like I said, I have more fun collecting things in old raids than the limited time items.
Does that make sense? It’s just bad gameplay for me.
Please don’t make up stories about me or put words in my mouth. I said no because I’m not sick of limited time items in the game.
I’m going out of town for the next two months, won’t be able to play this game at all during that time. It is what it is. If you want something in the game you have to play the game.
It’s not that I want things, it’s moreso that I want to enjoy playing this game and collecting things. But collecting things that are limited time isn’t enjoyable gameplay.
