Is anyone else sick of limited time items in this game?

o.O You might need to define limited… becasue if you’re talking about like a one and done thing for the year… but it comes back next year? That’s … not limited. If it’s like what they did with the FIRST plunder storm where those mogs MIGHT not come back? … eh. To each their own.

That’s definitely true and that’s pretty much what I do now.

But yeah, it does suck that we get all this content literally catered to people like me, people that like collecting things. But a good portion of it is limited time and just kinda ruins the enjoyment of collecting things.

I really liked how they designed delves, for example. Even though technically I think the rewards are limited time (?), you get so much time to do it and I felt like I could just take my time and enjoy doing delves to collect the rewards for it. It felt really good. I wish we got more “collecting things” content like that, instead of the 1-3 months events, or even ~1 month Trading Post stuff.

I also really like the Renown system and the vendors for that. That also felt really good for collecting stuff.

It literally makes zero difference to most people, and you’re just playing Devil’s Advocate for funsies.

I don’t think I waa wrong in my analysis. You are complaining they aren’t permanently available. There is nothing wrong with this and its a false sense of rush and fomo since you have 30 days to collect then they’ll come around again another time.

Like I said. You don’t need everything right now. Just get it next time. They will return.

That’s your choice, and Blizzard is hardly responsible for your gaming timetable.

And making transmog a gamebreaker seems weird to me. Mog has become such an obvious gold rort that I’d rather not participate in it, generally. If they give it to me for free, fine - it just goes onto the Appearance tab and sits there. For all the hundreds of items, I’m lucky to touch any of them over a period of time. Offering a set and then having it cost hundreds of gold to use, every time, on every character, is shameful. For doing something that takes no effort on their part, it should be completely free to use, the same as changing a piece of literal gear.

So they just keep adding more and more mog items, feeding that need by many players of “I must have it, its new and sparkly!”, isn’t something I’m getting on the bus with. But you do you, if it’s your thing. It’s just not mine and I don’t care if its limited time or not.

I have no idea if I will be playing this game when the items return, like I said, I don’t play this game year round, like most people.

That is how most people play this game, and Blizzard themselves have said multiple times they are aware that people are cyclical in how they play this game. That’s part of the reason they moved towards seasons.

It seems weird to me design portions of this game around people playing it year round when most people don’t play this game that way.

To overcome FOMO (fear of missing out), you can try:

  • Practicing gratitude: Instead of focusing on what you don’t have, try to be thankful for what you do have.

  • Practicing mindfulness: Try meditation, yoga, or journaling.

  • Connecting with others: Reach out to friends and family to talk about your feelings.

  • Setting realistic expectations: Try to be willing to not “have it all”.

  • Reflecting on your achievements: Celebrate your successes and be kind to yourself.

  • Reconnecting with yourself: Spend time in nature and reconnecting with the physical world.

Good luck.

This is really funny because I literally already do all of that lol. Yoga, meditation, etc. That’s why I don’t have FOMO, and I just don’t bother, like I said in my OP lol.

It’s not weird at all. People don’t go into a store every week. So what do stores do? They offer sales incentives to get people to come back into the store more often. Blizzard does the same thing: offers of goodies for extended subs, time-limited event rewards to do the same thing, all kinds of ploys that businesses everywhere do.

Its a customer’s choice. Be there for it or be elsewhere. And its pretty obvious to me.

If you miss it, you miss it.

They are just cosmetics.

Right, I get that. That’s why I specifically mentioned how knowing you only have a month to play this game and get something feels rushed and stressful, and not enjoyable.

It’s not like just going into a store and buying it, you still have to play the game to get it. And it just feels like rushed gameplay because there is a time limit, like I said here:

Does that make sense?

I hate FOMO practices too. But as long as the items come back around periodically I’m okay doing without them for awhile. Pretty sure everything on the vendors you’re referring to is a returning item, so if it returned once it’ll return again.

The first step to fixing the problem is admitting the problem.

Genuinely I’m not afraid of missing out on the item. I see a cool limited time item I want, and then I think about how I’m gonna have to rush through trying to get it with a timer on it, and I just don’t bother.

That’s the biggest thing holding me back from going after limited time items. I’m not afraid of missing out, I’m afraid of it ruining my enjoyment of playing this game, instead of just playing this game doing something else that is more enjoyable.

Personally, I don’t really care, but I also wouldn’t really care negatively if blizzard added pathways to obtaining old limited time only items (outside of the BMAH which is kind of a degenerate system imo).

I’ve been saying for a while that they should add in the old elite pvp sets/weapon illusions from past seasons for completionists+to boost participation, and those are something that I’ve never had trouble acquiring. I don’t even care if they don’t have rating attached to them tbh, I can just look up player’s past/current pvp ratings, having an item set or weapon illusion they “didn’t earn” or whatever other cope excuse you come up with for gatekeeping it is irrelevant to me

the items on the trading post are not limited time and they have consistently returned a couple months later.

Say that to my sentinel’s headdress which I still don’t have because I picked the wrong quest reward back in 2007.

No, because I understand that an limited time item is a way to say “hey I was there when the thing happened.”

Do you complain that concerts only sell t-shirts exclusive to that specific concert?

I just give someone money and they give me the tshirt. I don’t have to spend like a month logging into a game every day, rushing to do some content to acquire the tshirt.

Also people can resell those tshirts and you can find them later lol.

Not even remotely, but thanks for making accusations.

Me having a thing that says “hey I was there” isn’t me gloating to those who weren’t there.
