Is Anduin a Priest or Paladin (hero, so mix of both?)

Ok so a few things:

  • He has his dads sword, his grandfathers armor. aka “King of Stormwind” armor.

  • In the BfA cinematic, he casts what appears to be Power Word: Salvation (I thought Barrier)

  • Around the time of the Cataclysm decided to pursue the path of a priest. This doesnt mean he stayed a priest, paladins are priests first, right? Right?

  • In heroes of the storm he has the following spells: (not a complete list)

    • Renew,
    • Binding Heal,
    • Power Word: Shield,
    • Holy Word: Salvation,
    • Lightwell (anyone else remember when priests at this in WoW)
    • and Leap of Faith.

Then…

  • Maybe a “Holy Warrior” such as a Paladin?
  • 2H weapon (his dads)
  • Wearing Plate (his grandfathers)

Maybe…

  • Hero characters don’t obey game play mechanics

SO… what is Anduin to YOU? a Priest or Paladin? Why?

Most lore characters do not follow the same class system we do.

Anduin shows very much he’s a Paladin/Priest.

Also it’s not power word barrier, it was holy word salvation he cast in the cinematic iirc.

He’s basically a alternative Paladin, one that’s more spell-casting based and healing based, than martial, but with martial skills still added in.

He is a Priest.

He is acknowledged as a Priest, he calls himself a Priest, Blizzard calls him a Priest.

But he’s also an NPC, he doesn’t follow gameplay rules. Tyrande is a Priest who uses moonmagic and a bow.

Really he’s just a Priest in plate armor

Paladins know how to use a weapon beyond mindlessly bashing it on someone’s chestplate, and none of his abilities seem to be Paladin-ish in nature

He trained as a Priest, he just learned how to put on silly looking armor somewhere along the line

And for the record I don’t think you have to be a Priest to be a Paladin, just be a huge fan of the Light and know how to swing big weapons

He really is just priest in a suit of heavy armor. His martial ability is no where near that of his father.

With a legendary weapons how many whacks did it took him to beat down a generic LVL 54 troll shaman’s leather shield?

He’s a priest. In armor cause he’s king. Has sword cause it’s his dad’s. Looks like a paladin but that’s as close as he will get to paladin. At least for now.

Oh. And maybe inner fire.

Well he’s not xenophobic, so he can’t be a human Male paladin.

He apparently likes men instead of boys, so he’s probably not a priest.

This isn’t a hard question, obviously he’s in the priest order hall as an important npc priest but at the same time is constantly wearing plate, fighting with sword and so on. And Blizzard is not so subtly making him perform some of the same animations as Arthas through many cinematics…whether that’s a red herring or we’re looking at a future raid boss when the other windchimes turn into evil Illi-fanboy caricatures, we’ll see

He’s obviously drawing from both (as many NPCs also play multiple roles and aren’t pegged into one class).

Putting it in other terms, he’s got 60 ranks in Priest, 60 ranks in Paladin, 40 ranks in High King, and 10 ranks in Perfect Hair Forever

He’s a priest.

Anduin’s a priest who wears heavy armor and takes from his dad here and there involving some warrior-esque abilities. Anduin used shockwave in the cinematic, but everything else was priest abilities. He just trained his sword skill cause he hacked the game.

Are you sure? I mean, I agree Anduin is a priest. His sword and armor was his dads and grandfathers…and rather King of Stormwind.

Maybe… Cleric will be a new class :smiley:

I want to help Anduin (as a Horde player).

When he had tears/water in his eyes from the Light in the BfA cinematic…it made me tear up… no joke.

Blizzard has said he’s a priest and he’s said he’s a priest. NPCS are just more special than we are so he stills gets to swing a sword and wear plate.

As far as class, I agree - he is a priest. With a lot of Pally tendencies.
It’s the “King of Stormwind” set of armor. His dads sword, grandfathers armor.

Look, Anduin is just a Priest who, because he’s King of Stormwind, gets to transogrify his Staff into his Dad’s sword and his cloth armor into his grandad’s plate.

His strangely attractive crying…I’m pretty sure that’s Anduin’s version of Psychic Scream.
