I’ve heard it said that Anduin is not dead, and I think that’s probably correct - but neither was Arthas, and he was a Death Knight. The reasons that made me wonder whether he had been, in fact, made into some sort of Death Knight was his appearance.
Here is a comparison image of him - in his normal, golden and hale state, and for those few moments when he broke free of the Domination power. The difference in colouration is significant.
His skin is washed out, his hair and eyebrows silvery-grey and his eyes are definately a different colour. When he is under the Domination magic he has the full on DK eye effect but when he is free of it (but is still carrying Kingsmourne) his eyes have changed. The blue is much paler and brighter and the white has that sharp icy colouring.
I find it a bit odd that his colouring has changed so much if something physical hasn’t changed in him. Arthas was the same. When he was under the direct control of the Lich his eyes took on the DK light but when he was just being himself they were different.
And when you consider that both blades are effectively runeblades, which are carried by DKs, I have to wonder if our young boy king has been forced down the same path as the last mortal man to wield a mournblade.
Anduin is not a Death Knight. He can’t utilize Death magic. It’s only when Zovaal is controlling him and has his power flow through Anduin that it happens. He is simply a vessel.
As for Arthas, he did eventually die during his gradual transition into becoming the Lich King. I mean, he even ripped out his own heart eventually.

I’m fairly certain Anduin is still alive. Just possessed under Zovaal’s domination magic.

He’s a Death Knight.
Evidence: He wears evil looking plate armor and carries around a menacing runeblade that he uses to command dark magic. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, etc

The runes on Anduins armor look like they have something to do with his domination. If Anduin were dead, I don’t think that would be neccesary.

That doesn’t make him a Death Knight.
And no, HE isn’t the one using death magic either.
He is literally just a proxy, nothing else.

Sure it does. Look at him.

Yep. When they had Sylvanas do the Arthas pose with Kingsmourne I immediately identified her as a death knight. I thought it was sacrilege.
Nah she wasn’t wearing plate armor

What I’m about to say is unrelated to the subject, but…

Judging people by their appearance is a very problematic approach.

In a prehistoric kind of way, you’re passable I guess.
What was that meant to be? A joke?
She looks better than yours for sure.

So your point is she doesn’t live up to human standards of beauty? Good thing she isn’t human. What’s Anduin’s excuse? The cinematics would have us believe he is supposed to be a pretty boy. His in-game face tells a very different story.

I imagine the truthful answer is going to be that Anduin is complicated - mostly because he always has been. Trained as. Hunter as a child, a Warrior as a young man, a Priest soon after, and wearing plate and wielding the light like a Paladin until a little while ago.
Anduin is a main character, so he gets to use skills and abilities regardless of class depending on what the devs want him to do. So he might be Death Knight, or at least use Death Knight abilities, the next time we bump into him in game - but that doesn’t mean anyone will ever refer to him being a Death Knight anymore than they revered to him being a Paladin.
Also, he might be dead or even Undead, not JUST mind controlled, but even if he is he’ll probably get over it.
