Is Alliance really that bad at doing basic PVP?

Hey, so is Alliance really that bad at PvP?
Im not asking this to be inflammatory I just want the perspective of Horde and Alliance players when it comes to PvP like battle ground because I’ve been playing since 2011
and winning a BattleGround is I would say nearly impossible… and its always been this way ever since I joined. Its to a point where winning one is nearly socking like hitting the jackpot at a casino.

I’ve been actively trying to win a single Koryak’s Revenge and a Epic Battleground for a week now and Alliance just gets steamrolled every time. Still haven’t won 1.

infect i checked my states for this season and I played 20 battle grounds and only won 4 on this Character.

is anyone else experiencing this?
or is it just me?

It’s not really a faction thing.

Most players are playing Blitz or Shuffle, they only really play Randoms or Epics to get gear even though they are their own modes by themselves.

So you’re more likely to only be playing with players who are not geared.

Korrak’s Revenge is different, you don’t need to do the Korrak event to win, and if your team tries to do it, they automatically lose.

Also, you can queue for Korrak from level 10, so you’re likely playing with a lot of low level players too.

And you can queue for it in a full raid, so you might be up against 40 fully geared level 80s occasionally.

Alliance have always performed much worse than Horde in BGs. However, in the past couple of years I’ve noticed improvements there. I win 40-60% of my random BGs now.

As for World PvP, Alliance have absolutely dominated Horde there at least since Dragonflight. That’s not even a competition.

You’re heavily selected for queuing into games you will lose in PVP between the games you were going to lose outright and the fact that people are dramatically more likely to quit games they’re losing.

The obvious version of this is Wintergrasp- by odds you will rarely ever start on defense and you will frequently discover that you tend to win games on defense and lose games on assault. Because a single WG match can have north of 80 people cycle through the Assault team.

KR has a massive Horde bias between better graveyard positioning, towers being much better than bunkers, better tower positioning, and being positioned far enough forward that they can easily cap stonehearth unopposed before the alliance can even reach it.

And that bias is worse now they they nerfed the NPC’s.

And they let you raid queue to give people that authentic '04 era experience of watching an entire team of rank 12+ people explain why it’s completely fair that they get to go farm fresh 60’s and that you’re obligated to get farmed by them because how else are they hitting rank 14?

There’s honestly no good reason to try and win KR- if you insisted on it I’d look for a premade group but if not? The rewards for actually winning are virtually nothing- you get better from the weekly event, normal random bg’s and epic bg queues.

interesting, thank you for the explanation. yea, since i made the post i lost 6 more battle grounds, still have not won 1 yet. I keep trying to get honor for gear but this is getting painful.

For some odd reason Horde win rates have improved since the new expansion dropped . Horde got dunked upon hard in Dragonflight .

Alliance doesn’t have to be good when its a 20-1 ratio out in the open world. Its insane how many people flocked over to that side. When the pvp world chests spawn its hilarious how many alliance swarm around it like gnats while maybe one or two horde will fly by to see if theres even a slight chance…

We’re talking about BGs, not WPvP.

Faction doesn’t mean anything in non-rated pvp. It’s usually just whoever has the better premade.

In world pvp though, that’s 100% Alliance dominated.

Which faction is winning depends more about what time of day you queue up. At horde o’clock (8 pm est) all the kids have been fed, us old farts and/or parents can get our game on. Ally premades tend to be prevalent before 8 pm. Some still play after 8 and we love a good game.

I always thought horde was the bad side then I made an alliance character and it wasn’t any better. I might be the problem here but I refuse to believe it

Im just really trying to put my finger on why im losing sooooo much, ever since i made that post i have won 2 and lost additional 17 matches. is it really because Im not in pre-made groups? should i be LFMing before i queue? because the win/loss ratio mathematically makes no sense really. I currently have a 17% win rate.

really frustrating

I assume you mean random battleground? Both factions are the same, no any notable difference.

Ranked pvp? Alliance dominates right now because of racials, right?

I would like to know which alliance you’re playing against because I’ve lost every horde epic BG for the last 2 days. No idea why we can’t seem to get it together

Maybe everyone transferred to alliance? Who knows

Hmm I’ve been winning the majority of bgs. We utterly stomped the whole team in wintergrasp yesterday. I felt sorry for the hordies. Korraks we’ve lost in due to them killing Van before we kill Drek but otherwise, when it’s a head to head clash we’ve been winning.

I find a few losses during the day but, never really at night. Alliance seem to out-gear horde a lot.

That said I do play on oceanic realms and I think the alliance has a larger population.

yea thats odd…since i started this character i think it took me like a week to get almost fully geared in conquest from winning so much. almost every single encounter ive had is a win…ive been frustrated with the game over the last week or so, so i really havent been on too much the last few days but in my experience alliance wins almost everything i que for.
i actually rerolled this character because i couldnt buy a win on horde and this character was a last ditch attempt at enjoying it. im really glad i did tbh. seems like alliance, in my experience is just free win mode. sorry to see your having such a hard time.

It’s just you or the time of day you’re queuing. Alliance win the majority of the time throughout the day for random battlegrounds except for a brief period of time during the evening.

We call it Horde o’clock

All I know is, whatever side I’m on, if we’re losing, someone usually says “this is why Horde/Ally is so bad” …or something to that effect. I don’t think either side is much worse than the other… it just depends on the day, or even time of day.

Either way, I wouldn’t worry about it too much. It’s not really worth time and effort. You gear pretty fast and can transfer honor from a geared toon anyways. You wont need to be doing randoms for very long.

It’s so funny because when I play Horde I get stomped. Alliance? Stomped. It’s just me – I’m the problem. Hello!
