Ion says conquest is a participation reward

There has been a conquest cap every expansion we earned gear like that. Right now you could grind out all the gear in a week if you want.

Lol what? Conquest cap now and conquest cap then aren’t the same thing. Conquest cap before was bis gear. This is 385 gear is basically the honor gear of old, which a set was obtainable within the first week or two of play. The random chest now is the old conquest cap.

Yea I feel really motivated to do a ton of grinding for 385 gear when people have been doing easy mythics/warfronts for 400+ for ten weeks. Also even with the catch up it’s more of a grind to get the whole set than the old honor sets used to take.

Neither of these incentives people to PvP. Hence you know the participation is so awesome right now.

Edit: oh also there is zero way for me to get back the ten weeks of actual PvP gear that I missed from my chest. That also really incentives me to get back into PvP. Now if only we used to have a system where that was the case. Too bad blizzard has no prior systems to look at and design around :joy:

only if you are now starting pvp for the season. if you have been keeping up with cap you haven been limited to 1-2 pieces of 385 per week (1 from CP, 1 from chest, assuming RNG didn’t screw you)

something else to consider here is that even though CP is offering 400 ilvl now, after 10 weeks PVE players are reaching that as their average ilvl overall, not just getting their first piece.

Yea that’s what I meant. And how it always worked in BGs.

In previous expansions PvP was (generally) best for PvP.

Not so in this expansion.

PvP is if you do rated. Randoms not so much, but why is that so bad? LFR isn’t bis for pve.

Except as I stated that’s not how it always worked. Honor gear sets we’re obtainable pretty easily and quickly. Not 10 weeks or the massive grind that it is now.

Also as has been pointed out. All that for 385 gear when people have had access to 400 from easier pve sources all expansion so far

Rated PvP gear is the “right” iLvl, but I don’t think I’d say it’s the best gear for pvp, especially the Azerite pieces.

I don’t even think the gear is bad. I think that gearing through PvP is by far the slowest path, and that the gear you get is underpowered compared to PvE sources.

Moodruid has 7/14 pieces from PvE sources, and he’s not that that well geared. I’ve never had to get that much PvE gear to be competitive in PvP.

Here is where I disagree. You don’t need any pve gear to be competitive in random BGs.

Scaling works, to an extent. I’m fine, most of the time.

I exploded some hapless ret who wandered out of our flag room carrying the flag. Poor guy had maybe one stack, and I was sporting Zerk and Incarnation, and Starsurge hit him for higher than his 85k life total.

MooDruid is sitting a a whopping 376 iLvl. I’m sure 400-415 Ret could do the exact same thing to me with Zerk and Wings.

Getting that dude some baseline gear stat should be the games priority. Getting the 360 blue gear on a vendor instead of being awarded by wins could help.

Lucky procs happen. I have them at times even with my lower gear.

https://imgur.com/a/HJGUn7t Least geared player between both teams, minus feral who is 1 item level lower. You don’t need to pve for BGs

Yeah, I do that too in the iLvl 375 range.

Take off gear unti you have 100k health and see how you do then.

I thought we were arguing you have to do pve to pvp? I haven’t stepped a foot in pve. Also, people have said because I’m behind by just doing BGs that I’d likely struggle.

Part of the argument is starting out fresh Juga.

I’ve been slowly leveling Sparkle Paladin. When I hit 120, by far the best way to get him to a decent iLvl is going to be PvE sources.

The only reason MooDruid has so many PvE items is because they were quick upgrades to move my iLvl from 349 to the 370s. It’s not that I couldn’t compete at the lower I level, but there is a noticeable power/time to live difference between even in those 20 iLvls.

What I’m looking for is comparable paths for PvE and PvP gearing. I don’t think they are at the moment.

There is no reason to have blue PVP gear RNG. it should be on a vendor IMO. Blue PVP gear doesn’t even warforge or titanforge enough to justify having it RNG.

I have seen more conquest and epic quality PVP gear warforge or titanforge than blue PVP gear.

Well, you get 360 gear after most wins, on top of CP towards conquest gear. It was the same in wod (the answer was “go do Ashran” lol) I would be for that comp stomp for lesser geared players to gear through like someone made a thread about.

Yeah, the answer was “go to a PvP zone” and get awarded the secondary currency to buy last season gear to get quickly geared.

The answer wasn’t “go do daily quests for gear”

Like I said, make the comp stomp into something for people to gear in before hitting randoms.
