The faction division is what makes this game special.
I’m not a fan of this direction in the slightest.

They are ending the faction war so that your race doesn’t go extinct. If they continued, the Horde would wipe every last one of you out, and then you wouldn’t be able to log in.

How you can feel “icky”? It’s just a mental block you face. Playing both sides means also playing each side of a coin. You get two very different experiences but your own bias clouds your better judgement here.

Both sides are very enjoyable.

Playing both sides has vastly increased my absolute loathing for the Alliance. I hate everything the Alliance stands for. I play Alliance to see the whole story, but they are clearly the villains. Colonizers who romanticize Western sensibilities, herd conformity, and organized religion (light worship). Gross.

It’s an American playerbase problem not understanding the difference between furries (sexualized behavior or people in fursuits) and anthropomorphic characters. Doesn’t help that Blizzard fostered this behavior with a Worgen-joke where they call themselves “furries”.

There’s nothing wrong with sexualized behavior in fursuits. If you hate sexuality so much, render yourself inert.

Not entirely true. Furries are an easy target for ridicule by a number of communities on the internet. Many of such people have grown up and come to realize it’s not 2004 anymore, but there’s still plenty of people who will try to score ‘easy social points’ by trying to take a dig at furries.

True, but the level I see it on here is ten times more than anywhere else I have been on the internet. The only runner-up is anime pfp’s on Twitter.

Personally I think it’s a cope for people to ‘enjoy’ anthro characters but to say they’re not a furry. I’m not into fursuit culture but I embrace the identity of furry to be intellectually honest with myself.
