Ion confirms the datamined blue eyes are not for the Blood Elves

I can never tell if this legit or not. This is my two cents.

If Void Elves get blue eyes for customization than Blood Elves can have them. So it better be for both or none at all.

I am open for more customization all around. I was just complaining about lack of options for undead in another thread. Lack of customization leads to disappointment.

I have always encouraged Allied Races to get more options. As we all know they have the most minimal options currently.

I just want more customization in general. I would like make up for all female races. I would like war paint open to all races. I would warpaint/eye shadow to be actually noticeable also. Worgen is a good example of it not looking so muted. I don’t see the point when it looks muted…

I think Void Elves having lighter skintone would be nice. They can make some darker designs (make up, hair colour) for the Blood Elves to compensate for this. It should work both ways.

I would love lots of metallics gold/silver/bronze etc. Can even have ash/black, also an array of colours but still in particular I am interested in those. Not just for eye shadow like I mentioned but warpaint. Again I would like it for all races. Another thing I suggested before and feel would offer even more choices is opening all hairstyles for all races on top of new ones.

Genetics? Can woman not give birth to mixed cute babies?

Ah yes, elves who got tainted with fel magic. So pure.

Well, I suppose too bad for the people that genuinely wanted the color as a customization option (I guess this may mean a pink skinned customization for Velves ihas become quite improbable too… after all, if green eyes are deemed too iconic to the race thanks to the lore and narrative linked to it -which I agree with, reason why I never used golden eyes with my Belf toons-; I don´t think the purplish skin tone on Velves -which basically distinguishes them as the ones that went thirsty for void- will leave that race anytime soon).

Now, if those datamined options are NOT the available for the playable race, I wonder which actual changes will be put on Belf customizations (maybe scars, please let it be scars and runic tatoos like the one posted for the iconic Belf on the TBC game box). I hope not the jewerly, that was overall awful…

I think you mean High Elf skin tone. No one wants the Blood elf skin tone, all the pro helfs have been asking to have High elfs not Blood Elfs.

here’s the bit where he talks about blue eyes.

Exactly and I agree, in these terms I was okay with blue eyes for blood elves because it was possible. That they are not an option tho, points that it’s a negligible number enough to be a playable option, yet I think the reason behind is most likely to be to maintain the aesthetic identity of Blood Elves as conceived, to a degree. It’s no secret that the BE’s have moved beyond being their edgy BC selves, but maybe they just don’t want to walk back to the point of making them just horde high elves.

I can only imagine the mental breakdown she’ll have if Blizzard ever actually gives Void Elves a skin tone option even remotely close to flesh colored.

Build me up, Buttercup

A race in WoW is not determined by their skin colour or eye colour. It is their story.

Yes they got green eyes due to fel corruption but that never changed the fact they were High Elves. Kael’thas just renamed them in commemoration of the Sunwell incident.

Void Elves started dabbling into dark magic. This is what defined their race. Not their skin colour or eye colour.

You can argue the fact there was consequences to their choices. Trying to supplement arcane addiction with fel. Practicing void magic started to alter their skin. Still that is not what defined them. It was the choice.

Just like the initial choice to have a new beginning in Quel’Thalas.

I think cosmetics does not harm the options for any race in WoW. I would like a lot more options open to every race,

Those eyes were all pretty wonky anyway, tbh. I was like “WTH is that?” when I saw them. They didn’t look like any thought or care was put into them so I’m glad they aren’t a cosmetic option.

Wow he said it does not make sense for blood elves because they have evolved… I think he should get that lore checked personally. But I guess we are putting all our races in a bubble now or at least he is. He stated similar views for zandalari warlocks which also has lore plausible points in vol’dun. I guess this is one of those arbitrary design choices. I do hope they change there minds and implemebt them. He did say those textures could be applied to any model so I have to wonder which teclxture it was intended for. Perhaps it was a void elf texture. Perhaps the ingame high elves are labeled blood elves in files. I am rather curious. I will have to see what customization awaits blood elves. If we get fel blue, fel purple, fiery red, orange, orange-red, orange-yellow, and maybe a pink eye color then I guess I won’t care so much about losing a sky blue. One of the two colors of azeroths blood ; /. I wonder how azerite eyed blood elves would have taken to that titan blood magic.

What I’d like to see is no more of these threads.

Horde tears?

We have Vulpera and Zandalari trolls and Blood Elves, all some of the best models that this game has to offer.

I will not shed a tear over blue eyes of all things. Now if Vulpera was deleted I might actually just quit the game.

Well, I do understand your point, and the fairness in getting more customization options available (while I personally would have never used blue eyes, I know some Belf players would have loved it and I 100% respect their desire cause it´s not game breaking in the grand scehem of things from a gameplay PoV). However, the lore neard in me is grateful devs haven´t trashed AT LEAST this tiny but VERY important part of the Belf lore. I feel grateful that the Golden eyes are NOT a result of Sunwell exposure (as most people believe) but because of religious zealotry / devotion; which guarantees no sudden override of Golden eyes on High Elf race (and I mean High elf as in biological sense; Belves ARE High elves after all) anytime soon.

However, what I pointed to is about the current stance of the game developers (people can´t be as naive as to pretend them devs are gonna ignore this very same argument for their playable faction just because). As much as Belves won´t get blue eyes on the foreseeable future, Velves won´t get Blood elf skin tones either in the same foreseeable future…

You don’t have dwarves tho, dwarves are the true master race of this game.

This may well signal the comeback of The Race which must not be named™ discussions.

While I’m neutral on that I’m happy if they got what they wanted as long as Alliance get some unique races.

This just makes me think people should be a little more patient before jumping to conclusions and gloating publicly.

Anyone who thinks that Blue Eyes suddenly makes what to me is a High Elf REALLY a High elf, has OCD/Anal retentive issues.

Blood Elf is already more than “High Elf” enough, while Void Elf is a cool one.
