Hope you’re all enjoying Sunday and just getting by from day to day,
(Had a full plate of Sweet potato fries w/ Jalapeño Mayo hot sauce with mojito in my patio)
While I am aware of IO’s mechanics in which dictates the rating of a player’s effectiveness, it is something that I personally feel neutral about it. It may have helped some players to distinguish capable ones to put your rating for better “eligibility”,
With that notion of thought I can see why it has upset some players too.
My question is this… Can IO be manipulated & show some sort of false rating performance? Given the nature how common it is that some players are doing the M+ and some Visions runs for gold profit, but particularly M+ in which you could pay a rather handsome amount and boom it increases your IO without you putting much effort to it…does this create some sort of a false sense of one’s IO rating vs legitimately one?
I was lead to believe that it was a system that could’ve been manipulated, hence the M+ gold runs. Not that I ever want to cross that path; my IO is far too low anyways
who cares about M+. i never do that content, but i can see the importance of io. you don’t bring mad dog 20/20 to a wine tasting. M+ is a bunch of “wine snobs”. on the other hand. it shows what you did, but not how you did it. you can be a complete dolt that was carried by your friends through every key. it’s not infallible, but a necessary evil for those that want to exclude.
The amount of people who heart their IO boosted through carries the. Use that to try and get into groups I expect to be so small it fits into the statistical margin of error form 0%
I have done a lot of boosting and most of the time it’s someone just after a certain piece of important loot like the geti cut of death in kr and they want to manipulate personal loot into dropping one by having 5 eligible people in the run.
Id rather have 1 person out of 100 have an inflated score than have no score at all. You have no idea how many bad players there are in this game. I’d rather not waste hours a week on dps that can’t chew gum and walk simultaneously.
I think the biggest issue with IO aside from splitting the community further is that it is an opt out process and not opt in. Who knows what they do with your information you use to sign up with.
You can’t hack IO. It’s an accurate reflection of your Mythic experience.
However, you CAN purchase the experience. spend enough gold and you buy yourself a pretty decent IO. id say 2000ish io rating can be bought from runs.
Im pretty sure there are not that many people who managed to purchase up the IO points. and buying IO doesn’t really have a point. when you got into group thats waaaaay above your ability grade, it’s very obvious that you are not cut out for the content, and it will become blatantly obvious to the other 4 players that they won’t time the key with you around. they will simply kick you, and accept a -1 on their key right away, rather than wipe for 2h and get a -1 on their key anyway.
Everything can be hacked strictly. but since raider io is a centralized DB, hacking raider io is basically an easier version of hacking into a bank to change the number in your own bank account.
I don’t think anyone who possess the ability to do it is petty enough to actually do it.
If it was actually done, whatever entry that was changed would simply just get reverted once they patch up the hack. Effort/reward is hilariously low. people with that sort of hacking ability tends to spend their time on better things.
Now that i am thinking about this… more likely, if someone hacked raider io, they will probably just bomb the entire website infrastructure rending it inoperable.
Yeah like i edited in. if raider io got hacked. they probably would just knock out the entire website infrastructure. rendering it inoperable.
in that case, people’s outdated raider io number that they downloaded would still be valid. just that no more new updates would be issued and you won’t be able to look ppl up on the website anymore.
Alot of work for very little gain. the most i see people do would be a good o’l ddos.
