Its called a carry and it is far too prevalent.
Blizzard should bring back proving grounds… being 470ilvl but only able to sustain 40k dps, or being unable to avoid mechanics just ruins anything over a 10 that is not organised with guild.

That would be awesome if someone did that right when people just started doing new mythics so nobody could get a score lol. well not really. That is mean to wish ill on others but it’d be nice for about a day.
Totally possible. in that case ppl will just have to use their local data, ie “last season high” to make their M+ groups. out dated data, but still workable and could still achieve what the addon set out to do. odds are if you are 2500io last season, you can’t be a potato this season.
I’ve never understood why people hate IO. I play without a guild/community on ally and its worked fine. Keep playing keys and work your way up the ladder.
I’m pretty convinced the haters really just don’t want to put in the time to work their way up.
IO isn’t a guarantee of someone being good but I’m guessing the odds are significantly better when the person has run the dungeon and 10s of other similar dungeons than when you just pick a person at random.
I agree there should be a proving ground but just how prevelent do you think boosted ios getting into groups is? Obviously I don’t have a number either but I’m curious what sort of % you think have paid boosted IO scores that then sign up to pugs.
No, all the information that RaiderIO gets comes straight from the World of Warcraft armory.
I’m sure boosts happen but you can see how many runs in total a person has above a certain level and to be really convincing you would have to pay for multiple boosts.
In my experience its rare enough that IO still has a ton of value (and presumably given its prevalence many others feel the same)
At what point is a privately owned business a legit company?
Should I stop going to locally owned businesses and only go to corporate ones?
I mean, even in 15’s a lot of pugs still don’t know basic dungeon mechanics and how to play.
Raider io exists for a reason, if there wasn’t this “demand” for good/competent players then tools like raider io wouldn’t be needed.
Earlier had a +15 Siege fall apart/disband because pugs somehow screwed up the first boss “kite him into the bombs” mechanic… on a fortified week
I was the tank, for context - and the only reason I even signed up is because I’m fishing for a trinket (for offspec).
Then just now got done with a +16 Junkyard and the run went over time by like 9 minutes because the tank used the most awkward/weirdest route ever (i found it annoying anyways) and he was pulling super slow like 1 pack at a time, dude was taking his sweet sweet time
Like 50 minutes down the drain for nothing
if you think a real world local store is the same as a random internet website. I just don’t know what to tell you.
Ok. So at what point does an internet company become “legit”?
So an LLC isn’t legit?
Still slightly different. Not very many stores out there on the internet or sites for that matter ask you to give them person information in order to remove other information you don’t want posted except for those that are known phishing scams. But I regress. I honestly don’t know when they become real, I guess at the point you can verify that they can be trusted via sites like BBB or other such things set up to protect people from scams.
Bottom line, legit or not it’s wrong to Hold such information hostage.
simple and easy answer.
buying m+s runs such as +15’s from people selling them is basically boosting and a way to manipulate it.
As far as I am aware, the only “personal information” that is asked, is an email address. Which can easily be dealt with by anyone concerned by just having a spam email account. I have an email acct specifically set up for signing up on websites I don’t trust.
It really doesn’t matter to force you to create an account to have yourself removed is ridicules. It should require you to create an account to be listed. They should be required to have your permission to post it.
Or they just want to afk and watch netflix or something on Monday night. In BFA I haven’t sold too many keys but in Legion it wasn’t that uncommon to get some super geared person sign up and just want to afk at the door before reset. Hell, my friend did it every week and he got CE Argus.
The main con I see is that IO doesn’t record failures, just completions and timed keys. That means there’s an incentive for people to bail on keys if they’re not going to time them.
You can buy carries, but if you’ve got one 15 and the rest are all below 7 or something, it will be pretty obvious.
I mean. Its not my information (legally) they are posting, so my permission is not required. Only Blizzards.
If this was a phishing scam they’d be doing exactly what you are suggesting though. More people would sign up to have their scores displayed than not.
I don’t think you can even opt out?
