I’ve come here because I am angry with Blizzard. Not because they made a bad game. But because they ALLOW Raider IO to dictate whether or not I get into a mythic dungeon. I am a 373 warlock who mostly raids and pretty much hates dungeoning so I never do it. Well in the off time between raids, like the time we’re in now, many raiding guilds tend to go on break until the new raid comes out. But I as a player still want to get as much gear as I possibly can. I’ve done heroic but I like my raid, is growing VERY tired with Uldir’s lack luster fights. So I don’t want to try and PUG a mythic group. (Tbh pugging a mythic group would never get anything done because people are bad at playing games.) So my only other option is doing mythic dungeons. Now like I said before my Ilvl is 373 with everyone of my piece being higher than 370. So the only dungeon I could possibly do that would get me gear I ACTUALLY need would be 10+. But no one will invite me because my dungeon IO is low. Because i didn’t spend my time doing worthless dungeons to get gear I didn’t need. I think that’s a little bias against players who ONLY do dungeons, for times and other stuff. Blizzard what about the players trying gear in more ways than one. Why do we have to suffer by spamming unnecessary +2 mythic till our IO is high enough to do stuff we ACTUAL would benefit from.
IO isn’t the problem. Players who are foreseen as “elitist jerks” are playing with other “elitist jerks”. So you get to avoid the elitist players and make your own group that you see fit to progress your own key.
In my eyes the actual issue with the gearing system is the RNG on top of RNG.
It’s funny seeing both sides of this table. I know the place the OP is coming from and I know the place those who fight with him are going to come from.
It’s a difficult problem and sorry to say “just make you own group” is a pitiful non-solution of a answer. And if you don’t know why it’s a pitiful answer then there is no amount of logic or typing I can use on you sadly.
Umm the best solution I could give is that Blizzard put’s in some sort of screening system so that if they post a group looking for 370 and above the only people who will see are 370 and above. That may relax some people on the raiderio screening. That and up the group size to 6 so you can get more of the dps players into groups. Also make taunting easier for tanks.
How is make your own group a “non-solution” it is the only solution. Make your own group invite who you want. Watch when you do it without IO and tank your keys and realize IO is needed.
Make a group with your guild is the best solution, talk in discord coordinate pulls, coordinate CDS. Push keys.
Also 6 man dungeons wtf sounds like you cant push dps enough. 6 man dungeons would make it harder for tanks to taunt lol.
Sorry if you think I am elitist but this game is super simple and you all complain about the dumbest things.
You get 370-385 gear for free without doing any dungeons or raids. Ilvl is a joke and I’ve seen people who are 375 pushing 7k dps.
Your friends don’t always have free time when you have free time. Your guild does not always want to do the things that you what to do, they want to do their own things. Building a group in the dungeon finder tool as a dps is like taking a number and waiting in a very very long line. Can you understand now why players don’t like that “make your own group” option. Cause for some it’s just not a option… it’s basicly a “let them eat cake” type statement said to shut people up.
There are many MMORPG’s that are built on a 6 player system. You realize I did mention helping out the tanks too.
All these long wait’s for dps players are making is a bunch of people with tank alts tanking badly…really really badly. Some people don’t have the mentality to tank and they should not feel forced to just to get into a group.
People wouldn’t need raider IO, as Blizzard basically intergrated your best runs displayed on your profile page. So even without “io” they could still get a pretty good idea what you have done and if you have done the content they are looking to do.
If you are in a guild that isnt trying to get 10’s every week then you are in the wrong guild if you want to gear up and do mythic raiding.
Waiting in line? Now you get to pick who is on the team. I have multiple DPS alts and I never have a hard time finding people. Wouldn’t you rather take the time to pick who you want to chest the key? Its not to shut them up its a stop being lazy and whiny because you keep getting declined for groups. Its a simple solution no one wants to do and if you dont want to take the time and increase your IO or make a good group then why would anyone waste their time and run with you.
You are also a rogue pretty much the #1 dps in M+ you should have no problem getting into keys.
How have those MMOs faired compared to WOW oh yeah WOW has been going strong for 14 years why change the system now. Its still the best MMO despite its flaws.
Your last point thats the point of IO. If the tank has a low IO then you dont invite them because you know they can’t key M+ you just proved my point IO is needed.
I think you answered your own question. Gearing is way to easy now a days, there is almost no point in raiding if you aren’t doing mythic. I mean they are throwing heroic level raid gear at us every day for doing next to nothing.
So are you saying it should be harder to gear and force you to raid to get gear like the old days? I remember people complaining about that back then because blizzard forced you to raid. Now you do not have to raid. You can gear 3 ways now M+, Raid, PVP.
Meanwhile, I know a lot of raiders who will kick people from heroic or mythic groups that show little to no history with raid kills , or have nothing but M+ or PvP gear making up their ilvl.
Your gear reflects the experience you have for given content. It does not show you have experience with all content. Just because you demonstrated proficiency in one thing, doesn’t mean you are experienced in another thing enough to skip ahead and eat at the big kids’ table.
Yeah, I know it sucks. Especially because to a degree, some things do translate over. I’m kind of in the same boat as you (though I’m not on the forums complaining about it). And Raider IO certainly has its flaws. But come on.
How would having more tanks address the IO system?
You still have DPS who can’t dps or healers who can’t keep up with the dmg in high keys.
Tanks are hard to come by because its hard to trust heals and dps to do their jobs. This is why tanks have people they group with because pugs, facepull, can’t dps, break CC, stand in crap, can’t keep them up.
Tanking blows not because of the dungeon but because you have to rely on the group to do its job.
iLvl is what made the io a problem. ilvl is a joke and can not be trusted.
Mythic plus and subsequently raider io are not designed for you. They are for people who like dungeons. So obviously you would have issues with it and its subsequent 3rd party add ons.
Raider.io just records your M+ and raid history. Ultimately you’re being declined by other people, not raider.io. Item level is one way to qualify for content. IO score is another.
