Tribalism at it’s finest. Our “team” remains noble and selfless even with the knowledge our leader willingly lied, and Russia’s “team” will always be malevolent because we’re told to think that.
I think a vast variety of possibilities are likely. But there does seem to be a hidden hand that guides all information about the world in a particular direction
Then you have a misguided view on free speech. It is freedom to say what you want without the government hindering you. Individuals/companies are allow to toss you out if you dont follow their rules.
You have never had the right to free speech on internet forums lmao. Or private businesses for that matter. They are free to toss you out for whatever reason they feel like
We, the United States of America, should not be involved with this. Ukraine is literally surrounded by the EU, they are perfectly well equipped to provide assistance.
question is, why we always gotta try and solve other people’s problems when we have too many on our lawn.
They have them just poor supply lines for some reason, despite being right there. Some were saying they’re throwing away old hardware first, but i don’t believe it. He expected cooperative citizens like in Crimea and is surprised they got resistance. But it’s still early. Iraq took a month and that’s with the superwor US. This will be bloody as sunk cost comes in
Please stop with this lying cringe. There’s a time to s*** fling elsewhere.
No one is getting involved in it beyond NATO countries sharing supplies and most likely intel. Along with sanctions that are actually hard hitting for once.
Man I really hope they just keep getting rolled by Ukrainians, I feel bad for those in compulsory service don’t get me wrong but it’d be really nice to see Ukraine not succumb to brute force.
Wasn’t ukraine a host for military/bio Chem labs/etc? Did I hear reports of the Ukrainian pres mocking putin?
Putin isn’t a good guy perse, but Ukraine isn’t blameless either.
Regardless we don’t know the whole story and never will. It’s my assumption that a lot of this will be used as a distraction to our own deficiencies at home (approval rating, covid being “old news”, inflation, etc). Meaning the media will run With this to harvest fear.
I’m guessing the truth lies somewhere in the middle.
Coming from someone who used to work in the news industry, I agree with you. But it’s important not to feed it energy, news stories stay alive because people feed them.
It’s been clear for a long time Putin wants the glory days of Russia being taken seriously back which is why he has been making efforts to “take back” former soviet states like Georgia and the Ukraine. The usual tactic was sending the army in to “protect” Russian citizens in those countries and establishing autonomous city states that only Russia recognized. You saw this with the Crimea, Ukraine, and Georgia the last several years.
I can’t really say for certain why he decided to do this stupid invasion but I think it was partly that and overplaying his hand by thinking that the Ukraine would quickly collapse if he tried this on Kyiv only for the country to fight back and expose how inept and corrupt the Russian military is to the world in the process.
This is kinda just bringing stuff that is pointless to the situation no?
Trying to defend an invasion with they did bad stuff doesn’t really work when the guy invading is Putin as well. Infamous for people who oppose him inexplicably deciding to commit “suicide” or die of unusual circumstance.
Have you considered the possibility that the term “free speech” can be alot more nuanced than the arbitrary (or even legal) definition that was politicized by the people that control you?
I understand forums have rules. If you reread what I said, then you’ll notice that I mentioned I was willing to defend myself to be able to speak freely. It’s scary that you’re equating the expression of thought to the possibility of being punished or limited by people you’ve never met.
Ukraine is also still the most progressive former soviet state in Europe. Which isn’t saying much but it is still a better country to live in then like… Russia lol
