I’m not taking sides on who is right or who is wrong in this conflict since I’m not too familiar with the Russia Ukraine historic situation.
But my concern is that Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine looks like a precursor to world war three.
And Please, do a Google search on how world war 2 started, if you don’t know. You will see that it started in this same way; with the invasion of Poland.
Almost an exact text-book example on how to start a World War. But now. Most countries have Nuclear Weapons pointed at each other.
It is difficult to fathom how Vladimir Putin thought that this move was a good idea.
I would like to hear your thoughts on this situation.
My best wishes for both the People of Ukraine and Russia. May this war End.

I wouldn’t be getting my info from CNN, MSNBC or Whoopi Goldberg.
And why was Hunter Biden getting $83,000 a month on the Barisma energy board in Ukraine? Lots of unanswered questions.
Could all those targets Putin is hitting in the Ukraine be bio-weapon facilities co-owned by the USA? I guess we’ll never know.

Events are still unfolding.
It appears that heavy fighting is going to start in the capital, while everyone else looks on piling on political and economic sanctions.
Whether they do anything or if Russia cares remains to be seen.
I think Putin wants to test new toys. He sent the initial troop wave in by lying to them and telling them that they were going on drills. Being dropped off in Ukraine being only mentally prepared for a drill got them slaughtered. He used that Russian meat grinder as justification to launch rocket attacks on apartment complexes. I think that attack on civilians was intended to galvanize resistance so Russia could fight them to the death. Putin got bigger plans, maybe testing new drone tactics, or directed energy weapons, or maybe he is fishing for an excuse to try out his nuclear powered hypersonics.

The only thing that I can truly be certain of is that the media has a proven track record of willfully withholding information to advance narratives, and that the collective fear of society is a powerful tool to influence the removal of our freedoms.

Putin already did things that give the NATO reason to intervene, they are just being wussies. This will not end without WW3 starting.
Putin has nothing to lose. There have been rumours of him having some sort of medical problem. He wants to go out with a bang.
That’s hilarious. But come on.

People overestimate Russia way to much. Say bye-bye to your economy and infrastructure over in Russia over this, I suppose we’ll see if Putin has either lost his mind or is he trying to re-establish a Russian empire because he realizes that his country is slowly but surely losing its grip.
Watching the Russia simps have been funny though. Nothing was more hilarious than watching Tucker Carlson try to simp for Russia because leftists were mean to him or something lol.

Really, really not an appropriate forum to be looking for those opinions.

Going against the grain here, but I’m willing to defend the activity of free and thoughtful speech anywhere, as long as it’s not willfully condescending or exclusionary. Yes, that includes forums dedicated to the discussion of fantasy worlds. Free speech has taken quite the beating lately. Maybe we should encourage it, even in environments that seem inappropriate
I mean its not good and shouldn’t be happening, but everyone seems to be conveniently forgetting when we lied our way into Iraq.

Ukraine is right 100%. Russia is a death cult sending it’s troops into a meat grinder for no reason. Russia is starting a dubious conflict with no real gains and is lying even to their soldiers about their purpose. Tons of captured personnel admit they didn’t even know their mission, they thought it was just a drill.
I’m a Russian speaker (have family in Crimea) and it’s upsetting we’re seeing a war in Europe again because of that idiot in Kremlin.
This will not start ww3. Russia is very, very isolated.

I remember, and many other people do as well.
But it’s simply not worth bringing up because this is one of the many ways Putin has been trying to validate doing this. “Look these other countries did it! So it’s okay to do the same thing!”
bringing it up now just looks like we are defending the actions by saying we did bad blank in the past.

He wants to rebuild the soviet union. How is that not something only a delusional man with nothing left to lose thinks of doing?
Not even the people Russia are on his side any more, no amount of propaganda can sweet talk these actions.

Big difference in defending their actions and being hypocrites whenever someone else does what we seem to have no problem justifying at any moment.

Good faith rule based world orders require reciprocity, for better or worse. So long as one breaks it expect others to follow. This is neither a condemnation nor praise, just statement of reality.
There is not going to be a world war 3 over the Ukraine.

I’m aware, there is still a time and place to bring that up. This is not one of them because it creates a look that this should be accepted as the norm.
They don’t really even have the supplies for it. Tons of russian tanks parked at the side of the road without any gas, it’s insane.

Anyway maybe this will get rightwing nutjobs to stop worshiping Putin and the Russian military because it is very obvious they are a paper tiger and are not the unstoppable bond villain/fascist daddy propaganda has made them out to be.
but then again…
