Invalid "This is not your preferred armor type" errors

People are getting this invalid error message. For me somehow a shield is not preferred for a Holy Paladin.

I was getting this error in remix about a month ago when equipping a shield on my elemental shaman.

Just got this today on a shaman in resto spec with a shield already equipped when trying to equip The Immovable Object shield from an anniversary vendor.
