Engaging the community =/= Watching someone play the game.
I understand that Esports has a large pull (though admittedly WoW’s Esports pale in comparison to every other game’s Esports outside of RWF. MDI’s numbers are pretty pathetic as are the Arena-based Esports), but again, doing something in-game would have been infinitely more effective than another Esports tournament because:
Not everyone who plays WoW watches Esports.
It would have actually been a new way to engage the community with new events and would have had a much larger reach considering many people who don’t pay attention to WoW’s Esports would see it.
Why do we need another Esports event?
Listen, you clearly like WoW’s Esports and that’s fine. I’m not saying you’re wrong for liking it. However, I’m not sure why you’ve chosen to come after me when I’m not the only person expressing this opinion in this thread nor is my comment even the most liked.
I find it amusing to read people’s repeated comments here, wasting their time posting dissatisfaction and grumbles toward Blizzard and these report events - and those who comment on how strange it is to watch someone else play a game and enjoy it, I say: good for you, now let others enjoy a form of content that’s grown into a multi million dollar industry and is a strong piller of the gaming community whether you want it to be or not.
I said something along the lines of I was disappointed because for a second I thought we (regular players) we getting a new event and I have no desire to watch other people play WoW.
Nothing different than what most people in the thread are saying but since mine was the first and got over 200 upvotes, Blizzard decided to delete it.
And you’re sweet but I think I’m done with this game. I’ve had one foot out the door for over a year.
