Introducing the World of Warcraft Community Council

You’re asking too much from these developers.

Or inGame news. Or every Wednesday or Sunday a new question in the forums.

These people really need to step it up.

That doesnt sound like asking too much to me, at all. Neither does crawling on their knees to beg those hundreds of employees to come back and actually listen to their reports, this time.

We have to get the “asking too much” mentality out of our heads and demand better. The game is, sadly, at the best place for our voices to actually be heard. We should take advantage of it not with optimism or negativity, but with determination

We’re actually past that. As someone said before, they are chocking on their own arrogance and it’s time they pay up for it. As a customer I cannot recommend an interested new player to try WoW out because how feedback is handled and the constant fights and dismissive twitter postings from WoW deleveopers.

I would love to say that those people don’t deserve the anger they get but we have to be honest here. The game director has to step down and make room for someone who actually isn’t just a Horde raider.

The issue for me is that the long list of requirements means that anyone involved in that program hasn’t been a new player in years. While leveling alts is something, the leveling experience of alts is often very different from that of a new player with no background in gaming or this type of game. The purpose of the mentoring system seems to be to help fast forward new players into elite end content. It seems to be based on some weird misconception that actual new players would be ready to get ksm as soon as they reach max level, if only they had been kept so busy that they didn’t have time to get corrupted by watching asmongold or associating with the riffraff in the forums.

Blizzard doesn’t know what new players go through and they don’t want to know. They think their game is not confusing, but rather is self-explanatory. They think that the natural progression is to go from learning to move the first character across the screen to being a hypercompetitive hardcore min maxing theorycrafter within weeks.

The game was always something you could play however you wanted and learn to play as you went along. A new player could choose what they wanted to do. But much has been removed to funnel them into end content, because if they hung around in old content learning about the game that will hurt participation metrics.

Every real new player starts this game as a casual, something that devs seem to be unwilling to accept.

I think they should have an actual staff member on duty to help new players with their generic questions and do research for more complex issues, and the “mentoring” program should be to help people who already know what they want to do in end game and need help getting there.

He’s just the wrong person for the job in many ways. But he’s doing the job they hired him to do, and he’s doing it so well that they pushed the game right over the edge.

Do you guys get a team shirt?

I don’t debate any of that, again, all of that is not asking too much. If you believe there needs to be a reckoning in the Warcraft team, you and everyone else who believes it should push for it . I’d personally much rather Ion were " lead encounter designer" or some such than game director, and I certainly believe there are some devs who’ve so damaged their relationship with the customers that they no longer deserve to work on the game that belongs to the customers.

I also think players should push for all members of the wow team to play retail no less than 8 hours a week. And they shouldn’t be allowed to group with each other or announce their status as employees to get groups.

There’s a lot we should be pushing for, as the customers who want a better product. If you’re “past” wanting a better product, attacking the employees just to get revenge on them for ruining the product is pointless, unless you’re going to seek an full refund for every dime you’ve ever spent on them, IMO.

Tired of waiting. So I’m gonna bug you till you bring back the Claws of Shirvallah permanently for Feral Druids. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Your not good for it. You support blizz no matter what they do, they could add 10 new store mounts and you’ll buy them all and say thank you and we need more.

Seems like a terrible idea if the forum mob will now be influencing the game…

-.-

Why stop there? The council should request Saberon as a playable race- druid included, of course.

My hostility is towards people demanding Ion apologize for something he didn’t due. The fact that you deviated from that so quickly and rushed to a friendly status of convo again makes me think your just paid to be here. “This is the big thing where WoW failed so miserably” by Ion not apologizing? Again stick to the point. You are paid to just bash the game. It is corporate warfare. That is why your posting with a level 14 goblin and not a maxed out toon. What a sweet job where do I send my application? Do I have to live in Chaz, Washington to get this kind of work?

Ion is the game director. He should apologize to the players for the state of the game under his direction, period.

I disagree I think the girl that took abuse for years should apologize to herself for not being a proud American and standing up for herself cause freedom and freedom and freedom.

On one hand, I totally appreciate that they want people who are invested in the community because the community makes an m m o. On the other hand they did say they want solo players represented in the council and solo players are well… Solo. They do have solo as a selectable playstyle so hopefully those forms won’t be EXPECTED to include contributions to the community. hopefully…

First of all, how many times have you said “We’re listening!”?

You have said it so many times without authenticity that now your customer base is not listening to you, congratulations.

This is not an unheard kick starter game. People know your product, if you make decent content in a timely manner people will play. The content does not have to be the most amazing thing you have ever produced, just decent and timely.

The alternative you could choose – which seems to have been the path for the last couple of expansions --is to not make timely content, insult and alienate your player-base, or do nothing at all.

I have said enough. I will start listening when you have something of substance to say.

This idea is a stupid joke.

This is a LV 14 US toon from an EU player. If needed, get a GM to verify this. You’re making a fool of yourself here. Ridiculous.

“Because we fired all the people we were paying to do this years ago.”

Everyone “sees what you did there” blizzard, every time something smells fishy, now. Even if you didnt mean it to be fishy.

The council needs to be more playstyle and common player inclusive, more transparent, and yield more results than you could possibly anticipate, just FYI.

I endorse red shirt cow for council.

That just sums up the initial reaction of so many people to this. Really? Again? I mean bring it on, Blizz, but know that if you DONT expose this a PR stunt by picking all yes men, the community will make you confront what you’ve done to make us all so skeptical
