Introducing the World of Warcraft Community Council

Preach it! They should all be in here all the time so all we say when we see blue is “oh there’s that dude.” Instead of IT’S A BLUE BUTTERFLY. NOTICE ME BLUE, LAND ON MY NOSE!

They do a lot of creating their own problems over there, IMO.

100% this.

After going in and out of the mentor chat since it’s inception I can’t remember a single question about even Raids. Most of it is questions about questing issues, how to travel places, how to get into a dungeon/different dungeons, chromie time etc.

I get they wanted people who played the game but I would rather see people with 500 toys achievement than AotC. IMO, as a casual collector, you have to learn and research quite a bit about many eras of WoW to find some toys from rare spawns to quest chains and would be infinitely more helpful than having AotC

I have never in 13+ years had a new player ask me ANYTHING about raids. They just want to know who they should heal in a dungeon and when, and how to find that one orc’s wife.

This is going to be content creators and fanboys. If this is legit, no content creators will be on this council because they already have a method of communicating with the devs either by the content they create or by direct contact. Let active, passionate and knowledgeable players interact with the devs in a way that they can’t now because the devs aren’t listening.

Content creators who arent even making wow content anymore are still ON the EXISTING councils, so yea they have an outlet, there should be NO yes men on the council.

Unfortunately, you can’t filter those people out, no matter what you do.

Elmer nailed it above. We need to scrap this idea, reinstate the feedback forums, and have actual legit Devs read and engage.

Take your false righteous woke crusade elsewhere. I do not even believe you people anymore I think your just corporate spies and this is corporate warfare attacking a competitor. How much is FF paying you? Like anything you fight for is to actually make the game “better” or the “community” better. People left a company and now people are playing ff as a temporary filler while rubbing each others backs through reassurance streams about how awsome FF is. They did it with new world, GW2, rift…yada yada yada. 108 people were arrested in Polk county for human trafficking. That is a real victory that is real hashtaggss making changes. Oh no those arrests pale in comparison to getting some nerds fired for being sexist…Our society is pathetic…

I would love to participate in this program because i have a lot of opinions about 80% of the game philosophy and mechanics, and what I would (and wouldn’t) like to see in the game. However, I am non-confrontational and feel like such a program may come with people who would trample my opinions - some people thrive in a toxic environment, I’m not one of them (its the very reason I don’t raid or pvp).

I wish Blizzard much success with this brave new endeavor and look forward to seeing beneficial changes to the game (hopefully).

FF isn’t paying me anything but I’ll try it out with the new expansion. The problem you don’t understand is how bad wow has become, obviously you react very hostile because you haven’t looked over the hedge yet.

Don’t look over the hedge to FF when it comes to game quality. This is the big thing where WoW failed so miserably.

What difference will this all make when the devs are just going to ignore everything anyway?

Council members and beta testers should receive SOME kind of compensation at this point, even if it’s game time. I mean really, every hour a player logs in beta should be applied as credit to their retail sub.

Something similar should be done for the councils that currently exist and this one.

Ion et all,

The community has been providing TONS of feedback and told you ALL of the things that were terrible about both BfA & Shadowlands during both alpha/betas but you didn’t listen. ‘You think you do, but you don’t.’

Blizzard has been choking on its own arrogance for years. What’s different now that suddenly you’re ready to listen to us? The lawsuit? The exodus?

The community never stopped giving feedback, it’s just that many have stopped engaging with your products.

Blizzard has taken the fandom & it’s customer base for granted for too long. The community council is too little too late and feels very much like a PR event.
No thanks.

We don’t need to show or tell you all of the things wrong with Wow, Diablo or any other Blizzard product, it’s been done a multitude of times.

You need to show & tell us what’s going to be different.

I know, I had Kaivax respond to me once about the MDI. It was like I won the lottery.

I miss when Copeland and Ghostcrawler were just guys on the team I used to tweet at.

Honestly this council just feels like they’re telling 99.999999999% of the players that they’re not valuable compared to these 100 players they want to hear from for a year.

well I can’t see the point in posting on this forum in any case, if they are going to get their feedback from that group and we are just supposed to be spectators.

I’m curious when the selection process will be completed.

They said the hand-picked posters will be given a forum spot for “1 year”… so does that mean the selection/vetting will be done by December and the council officially installed in January?

I’m guessing January would be a good time to “open” the new forum since that’s the new year and November-December allows plenty of time to sift thru the applications.

I imagine they’ve already gotten thousands of applications, so it will definitely take some time to properly sift thru all of them.

imo it would probably be better to change it to a 6-month rotation per council member, that way more regular/everyday players can “take turns” voicing their concerns/ideas to the devs.

And a 6-month council term just so happens to “line up” with the 6-month subscription… so they would avoid the public embarrassment/humiliation of one of the chosen council players getting bored with the game and suddenly quitting/unsubbing mid-term

I’m really concerned and curious about this, too. I feel like January is far too long to wait when they’ll be working on future content in the meantime that could go so wrong if they dont address more current issues. but at the same time it feels like they’d had to stop everything else to make their selections sooner.

Dear off shoot of a cousin. I am far from woke, but just pointing out Blizzard has no stance to claim “Second to none” anymore, after Panda Palace, Orcs are Us, Beta for Azeroth and Betalands expansions were released. on top of the lawsuits, etc. not posting subs for everyone to see, etc. It was failure from the top down and in turn they poo’d out not acceptable expansions, pushed their Mount and “Boost my toon” Store while sacrificing what made it great.

So much could be done with the launcher, like daily polls you had to answer or a feature you had to rate 1-5 stars before you could hit play.
