Introducing the World of Warcraft Community Council

Nope.

If they were an active part of the community they’d just be another name in the thread just like yours. It’s that they only show up once in a blue moon that causes the OMG A BLUE! response.

It’s just like cars you like. See one out in the wild and you look at it a bit, but when there’s two in your driveway, and you see one in the wild, it’s just another car.

Yup. So much has been done over the years out of pride and spite. Instead of making something that we want to log in and play they make hostage content, AP, and pathfinders.

I was highly excited for that until I read the requirements… I don’t endgame, but I can old world/level like no tomorrow and love running old content. Sadly leveling alts and running old content wasn’t enough to help people leveling in old content.

I thought about throwing my hat into the ring, but I’m not the type of person they’re looking for.

Expertise in Alt leveling IS one of the selectable fields on the form, you may as well try! I’d rather they heard from someone like you than some toxic mythic+ runner who can’t wait to abuse the impending automatic abuse detector to punish players who arent up to their standards in lfg.

I was thinking about some kind of WoW council before, and it is great that it will actually be made. Let’s be real: WoW is more than just a game, WoW is forging souls and minds, WoW is an anomaly in game industry, an immortal game launched almost 20 years ago is still the most popular MMO, and I’m sure will hold this position for a lot of time. If I will be one of the chosen hundred, WoW will thrive as it never did before. Many real lives of real humans was shaped and forged by WoW, in some kind, the flow of history was shifted by WoW

Because they want to be able to dictate that players avoid hurting the developers feelings and ruining their creative Mojo in the process like they did in the previous private forum. Anything that’s special they can make special rules for to avoid taking any actual criticism and action as a result of that criticism.

I think a community council is a great idea! Good luck to everyone that applied for a spot on the council!

That the problem with this game. If you do not know whats wrong with it by now. Then need to hire new staff. here I give you a hint. I hear it game about 8 or more times a week.

  1. Why we killing the only good war chief.
  2. Why is the drops rate so low. It is not fun to waste time and get nothing in return.
  3. Why is it we have to run to corpse and it takes us 5 minutes to do this. Like flying people do not like it takes so long.
  4. Here my favorite. Why is this game so grindy? Do we really have to do this over and over just to get the places we want to go.

I think this is an excellent idea. I also put my name into the hat. I hope that whoever they choose understands the power of the building on positives and coming up with solutions rather than stating negatives.

Formula:
I like how X works.
I don’t like the way X interacts with Y.
Z would solve Y and make X better.

Example:
I really like the idea of a single player instance like Torghast.
I don’t like how Torghast feels monotonous because of how similar all the wings are.
Creating more varied environments would make for a less monotonous experience every week.

Side note: If you can’t think about a good thing about the thing you are complaining about, you are actually the worst person to offer feedback on that thing. Also, if your feedback is firing someone, you should probably just keep quiet.

Or less cynically, because they want to prune the feedback to fewer voices so that they can actually read the posts.

I’d like to be, if they hadn’t already done exactly that, before. Perhaps if they apologized for messing up the previous private versions of the council, I could say “hey, they can finally acknowledge they made a series of important mistakes. Now we can move forward.”

That would be really helpful, actually.

It would also be helpful if THEIR formula wasnt
"

  1. X player told us they like Y, and exactly what they don’t like about Y, and how Z could fix Y.
  2. How DARE they?! X player hurt my feelings sharing this perfectly constructive criticism. My inspiration is irreparably damaged! X player is a (insert obscene insult here)! "

It would also be helpful if they apologized for the multiple instances of that.

What Exile’s reach didn’t teach you that?

There needs to be a longer training scenario. Like DK intro or Panda long…but maybe not goblin long

The goblin intro might as well be an expansion unto itself

The DK scenario was FANTASTIC FUN and immersive, the class halls and their surrounding zones should/could have been carried forward as an evergreen part of the game for leveling each class, or something like that!

(Honestly the gilneas one was too if not for that timer gated escort city battle. Panda and goblin were way too long though.)

Truth be told that intro scared the crap out of me to the point where I didn’t think I was going to be able to get through it.

It wasn’t like the other class introductions; for example warrior, where I was like “I have a new button!”

Le Smash!

Honestly I spent more time scared out of my MIND AS a DEATH KNIGHT being hunted by the Scarlet zealots for half of the zone than I ever did being chased by packs of gnolls and/or murlocs in other zones. It was great. (My first DK actually RP’d as having raised a certain Scarlet NPC that gave me trouble. Said NPC has now been renamed and her actions feel all the more…vindicated.)

Conversely, Bloodmyst and Ghostlands were great early immersive racial zones. Starter zones LIKE those with scenarios LIKE the DK and Gilneas ones would be fantastic.

I get that the fantasy needs a strong establishment for like the death knights over Warriors.

If Blizz wants people to know their class beyond just what’s this button let me smash it, then some kind of revisit to the class fantasy in the starting area should happen.

I mean for example in classic I learned about how druids got their bear form Warriors got their stances warlocks got their demons etc.

And I get that old veterans have been through that story line before but the option should be there for new players much like Exile reach is

Im not even sure it should be optional. I like that blizzard made their starting experience mandatory but I think it’s sorely lacking. I’d really like to see them make a series of dungeons or scenarios or mini zones or caverns of time…thing…by which new players hit every bit of wow history and racial history and class history on their way to level cap.

Like…x druid at caverns of time will take you through what the hero druid has done through Azeroth’s recent history.

I could totally see it all in an abridged story mode.

Have like someone like lorewalker Cho run them through so many scenarios. Better yet have someone like the zidormi fly around as a dragon and you witness an aerial history

I would be cool if zirdormi just offered an aerial tour of a zone’s main quest chain(s) if new exploring players interacted with her, and there were a cheev with a special new bronze drake model she would use, for completing every zone tour.
(Might motivate some vets who havent done the story cause they’ve been playing 8 years instead of 18 or havent done it in 18 years)

thats basically the CSM in eve online. The bulk of the active and organised playerbase is all tied to 1 section of the games content, the leadership of the groups that play there dominate the CSM slots. Alot of players who play in other more casual areas dont organise and as such dont have much of a say or a voice. That said there was some pretty crushing changes to the vocal/organised folks space last time i looked (a year or 2 ago) so its not like being popular means you get to delete other peoples gameplay at will

If blizz is serious about this and making it work, it would pay for them to investigate similar programs run by other similar games to weed out any functions that dont necessarily work. Not being first to do something can have its benefits.

That’s why I suggested ONE player from each playstyle they’re seeking representation for should be player elected/endorsed. If they’re looking for about 100 people and they divide the gameplay aspects evenly that’s like 5 players per playstyle on the council or something. If 1 of those 5 players is elected, the players in that part of the community will feel represented but blizz can still exercise their judgment in selecting the rest, hopefully taking care to balance it properly.

This is something I’ve always wanted is that when you complete a zone and say it has eight parts, when you finish the final mission there should be kind of like a visual recap of how all the events interconnect and it ends in some kind of culminating or continuing event into the next zone.

My memory just is terrible and having like a Fallout revisit to choices made or completion of only certain events, if you were skipping side quests blah blah blah… Would do a lot for me
