Hello.
When I recently clicked the Open All button to retrieve my Mail at approximately 3:30 PM PST, some red text popped up mid-screen a few times stating, "Internal mail database error."
However, all my Auction House related mail was processed and is no longer present in my Inbox - I am concerned as to whether anything could have been lost, as the error message is a tad vague.
I googled the error message and saw a few other posts about it, some in the CS Forums here, but I decided to make my own thread as I'm not certain what the exact timeframe is to be considered "necro" posting.
Hopefully that was the correct etiquette.
My reading of other posts suggested that it most often happens when Opening All Mail that includes multiple instances of incoming Gold - such as Sold Auctions in my case.
I do use addons, but no Mail-related ones.
I know a complete UI reset is often suggested, but my reading of other posts on the topic indicated this error message was happening to people who had already done that.
In addition, a complete UI reset would not help me retroactively with my concern about items potentially having been lost at the time the error message occurred.
Therefore I would like to, if possible, reach a resolution without doing so.
I have thought of two possible venues that would re-assure me that, firstly nothing was lost, and secondly I can safely ignore this specific error message when/if I get it in the future.
Either would be sufficient, so please select whichever requires less effort/research:
1. Confirmation that, when using the default Mail UI's Open All button, it cannot delete Mail without successfully retrieving any Gold and/or Items contained within.
2. A GM review of logs confirming that all the Gold and Items attached to the Mails that were processed was successfully transferred to my character's inventory.
In my time on the forums, every time I've seen an internal error for mail all the items and gold from the mail have been collected. If it seems less than you think it is, then that's usually because a mistake was made with an item's price upon putting it up for sale, rather than due to the error.
And it's not always mail addons that cause this! Auctionator, Auctioneer, BeanCounter, and Bagnon can cause this issue as well. Or there's also a possibility that the issue is memory-related, at which point you'd want to do these steps:
Memory Diagnostics: https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/31356
Closing Background Applications: https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/23848
I hope that helps out!

I didn't know that Auctionator could factor into the equation - good to know as I do use that addon!
I wasn't even sure exactly what ballpark to expect - there were a lot of messages processed - good point though on the possibility of mispricing stuff.
Heh I'm a "casual" goblin, not a "goblin" goblin, but the error message did give me some concern since it was a decent batch of goods sold.
Thank you for the links on Memory Diagnostics and Closing Background Applications - I would sooner expect the culprit to be Auctionator or some other addon I use - but I appreciate the information.
Knowing that all the items and gold have been collected in every instance you've seen of the error message is good enough for me - I appreciate you taking the time to allay my concerns.
Let's see if I can figure out how to mark your post as the solution - I haven't used that functionality before, but I've seen it in action.
Glad to help out and alleviate some concerns! The error itself is purely UI - on the game's end, everything goes through normally as far as we've seen on these forums. And I know that getting those goods back from the AH is pretty important.
Have a good evening!

Hey Pazzik,
I just wanted to jump in to reinforce what Jodariel said.
The only time I've seen the error is when Open All was used when I have gold mail mixed into the rest. And despite the error, there's never been anything missing, including the gold.
The first three times it ever happened, I had a GM confirm that everything that was in the mail made it to my bags. So you should be all set despite it!

You rock for taking the time to help people figure stuff like this out!
I've dabbled in trying to assist people via forum-based interaction, but in the end, I think I just don't really have the mindset for it.
Perhaps my knowledge pool is a little out of its depth, too. *grin*
I hope you have a good evening, as well.
Thanks again.
Thank you for reinforcing, also, Leviathan.
I hadn't refreshed the page when I wrote this response initially and therefore hadn't seen your reply at the time.
Dinnertime here, so I'm off to eat as soon as I pry myself away from the PC heh.
