Interesting Lore Book info!

So! An interesting lore book was discovered! It appears to be a report between Venthyr (perhaps transformed by empowerment into full Nathrezim?) and sire Denthrius:

1/8
To our most wondrous and resplendent Master,

I am pleased to state that, after a lengthy study of our rivals, I have completed my observations.

Please accept this briefing in advance of my complete report, which shall follow forthwith.

2/8
We anticipate that certain of our targets will be more challenging to topple than others. But each is prone to manipulation in different ways, and our agents have already woven themselves into their very fabric.

This is, after all, the solemn duty for which you sired us. As you are fond of saying: Once a desire is understood, it can be exploited.

Enough prologue. Allow me to summarize our findings.

3/8
In many ways, the titans will be the easiest to manipulate. Their singular goal is to impose structure upon everything they see.

Show them a force that opposes their drive for Order, and they will be consumed by their urge to eradicate it.

Their pantheon, so seemingly united in purpose, is vulnerable to fracturing.

4/8
The void lords all but welcome us with open arms. They are so preoccupied with their thousand truths that they ignore the lies we sow in their very midst.

I believe we can leverage their vast reach to position them as a foil against our other rivals.

We remain wary, though. Since they are observant of multiple outcomes, it is conceivable they could anticipate our coming.

5/8
Similar to the titans, the naaru and their keepers are singular in purpose. Their adherence to a linear path is an obvious shortcoming.

They savor nothing more than being proved right, so if they believe they have converted one of us to their precious Light, they will trust that agent implicitly.

6/8
The adherents to Life are the most insidious of opponents, perhaps because their nature is so antithetical to our own.

Still, we learned much from observing the link between their plane and Ardenweald, and we have high confidence that a vulnerability has been identified.

Our operative has already gained the trust of her target.

7/8
And as previously discussed, our position within the plane of Disorder is proceeding flawlessly. Consuming fel energy is not a pleasant process, but a necessary one.

The deception you have architected will bear fruit in the ages to come.

8/8
As ever, we shall serve as your unseen hand. We will poison every host foolish enough to invite us into their midst.

I remain, as always, your faithful servant.

Two Il’gynoth lines come to me for me with this: The cunning ones kneel before six masters, but serve only one. and The vassal of life disguises treachery. Beware the eyes of green.

Those of us who speculated it was Dreadlords serving some higher master orchestrating the game’s conflicts were right :joy:

Question is, is the Master Zovaal, or someone higher still? Dark First One?

All but confirms Dreadlords were not originally demons.

Suddenly wary about Lothraxion.

Wait, who could possibly be the nature agent?

Nah they could still be demons.

Remember the Dreadlords were born of the twisting nether in reality. NOT the Plane of Chaos.

(also I hate that they refuse to use the word Chaos and keep using Disorder)

3/8 basically indicates they intentionally told Sargeras about the Void lords, with the intention of driving him mad and shattering the Titan pantheon.

…so seemingly Sire Denathrius is to blame indirectly for every terrible thing since Sargeras.

You’re assuming the Master here is Sire Denathrius when the term Master is used liberally by various NPCs.

Sire Denathrius may actually be the “agent” who was influencing Ardenweald to influence the Plane of Life.

The object reference atm has no quest assigned to it.

Well… Denthrius’ title is literally “The Master”. So, it seems like a pretty good fit to me given they intentionally capitalized “Master”.

Damn it! They practically screamed Lothraxion in this one.

As for Life perhaps they are talking to one of the Winter Queen’s agents? Maybe they are working with the Drust to gain footholds in Ardenweald.

I am actually wondering if the Life one has to do with tricking the Winter Queen’s mysterious sister. If they follow the pattern of fae lore she would be the Winter Queen’s Life-based counterpart. A ‘Summer Queen’ if you will.

And Nzoth is also referred to as Master, the Old Gods as Masters, Medivh is Master by the Kara NPCs, I believe Kel’thuzad is also referred to as Master by some of the Shadowland NPCs too, etc.

tldr
what kind of raid boss are we looking at

Were that true, consuming fel magic would not be unpleasant for them. Remember: Chronicles is not infallible. The Titans and their servants do not know all.

Reading over it again something that suddenly stood out to me was “the naaru and their keepers”

…what keepers? someone manages/directs the Naaru?

I wonder how Illidan would feel to know that he didn’t actually blow up the true Nathrezim home world, and that that in itself, was a deception.

One conclave of nathrezim dwelled on a world almost completely corrupted by the Old Gods, basking in their shadowy power, until the titan Sargeras discovered them. He ruthlessly interrogated the dreadlords, and it was from them that he learned of the Old Gods and the[void lords. The dreadlords revealed that the void lords had sent the Old Gods out into the cosmos in order to find and corrupt a titan world-soul, transforming it into an unspeakably dark creature that not even the Pantheon could stand against. Enraged by this discovery, Sargeras killed the nathrezim and shattered the corrupted world upon which they dwelled.

So they really were behind Sargeras’ fall. Or at least, instrumental in it happening. Which isn’t a retcon at all. It just shows that this was very purposeful.

I really appreciate how boss hog death as a cosmological force is.

I wonder if this means that we could be facing some of the Nathrezim we thought were dead.

I mean, we are mostly water, but chugging a gallon of water sucks, feel me?

Pantheon of Light imo

Naaru are just Odyn/Raden level of hierarchy

Well we have gender. It’s a “girl”. But we’ve never seen a Girl Dreadlord so presumably it’s someone in disguise among the Ardenweald NPCs.

No. Demons are specifically empowered by fel magic.

I assume by keepers, they mean the Draenei/Army of Light/their general worshipers. Unless they’re hinting at something more, or unseen here.
