Did you know you can get vacations here within the hour for saying things like “moron” and “nuts”?
Is this like the karma credit thing the Chinese government does?
-ignore list
-dont play with them anymore
-add people you enjoy playing with and play with them
I gave up trying to be nice not when you get screamed at pay my sub then you can tell me how to play or the famous don’t dictate my play style. Oh yes so fun to listen too then lets not forget the angry PM as well.
No.
This is about creating a friendly environment, both for current and future new players, instead of driving everyone away with Reddit/Twitter type responses to everything, because it’s the ‘norm’ here.
Your responses in this thread shows you are the exact type of person this would affect the most.
More likely, the guy “just jumping over a bench” was doing it to harass someone that was on the bench.
Same with the person spamming spells.
6 year old levels of “it’s not against the rules, therefore, you can’t ban me” doesn’t work on FF14. If common sense would reveal you as a troll, you’re liable to get ban hammered on that game.
Hogwash… pull useful elements from any critique you might encounter, right click-ignore the fool, carry on. There is a certain amount of: Hey, you are in public and will see humans acting within the total spectrum of human behavior - get good or stop coming. Rolling Horde can help you with this… (my opinion)
Some kind of penalty for unhelpful criticism might would be useful.
A penalty for continued stupidity in the face of constructive criticism might also be good.
Let’s go full-blown reddit moderator mode and start handing out bans for suggesting that the game isn’t perfect the way it is.
/sarcasm
I get that, I’ve been there too. But even just booting someone and ignoring them if they start yelling at you is better than actively berating them.
If someone starts digging in on me, I just ignore them now. But rarely I get people that actually ask how they can improve and I’m glad to help them.
wrong Been playing since 2007 and have seen more than my share of players who are unwilling to listen to positive feed back and honest criticism and it’s getting worse with the give me crowd. All YOU need to do is read the forum to see how it’s become. I have spent years helping people and 80% of the time it has gone good but that other 20% NO I sure did not deserve the abuse I received for just pointing out mistakes.
YOUR assumptions are the very reason this idea would be very bad.
Also, dps meters are good in any sort of serious end-game content (mythic+ and raids) because if someone isn’t stacking up to where they should be, then they either need help with their class or they need better gear to run the content adequately.
Case in point, my shadow priest in Crucible of Storms got me sat 3 times because I did less damage than the tanks.
I actually like that autocratic aspect of reddit.
Are you talking about in-game or here on the forums?
I’ve been playing WoW since 2006 and can probably count on one hand the number of times I’ve had in-game interactions that I’d consider “toxic.” I try to take control of my personal gaming experience to the best of my ability by removing chat channels I don’t want to see (Trade) or ignoring players I don’t want to see.
But one of the most impactful things I try to do is engaging people in casual conversations in pugs. I say “hello,” “thanks for the invite” and I act friendly. In most cases people stay pretty quiet, but sometimes they open up and we end up having some laughs. And sometimes that leads to making friends that I can party up with again.
I hear stories from people all the time about all the toxicity out there, but somehow I’m not really seeing it much.
Elisiana said it best to remove some of the chat channels. But no matter what you do your still going to have those negative interactions.
just ignore them and go on the best you can do.
Absolutely not. That’s one of the main reasons I don’t play FFXIV.
I don’t think a fear of being banned is a healthy way to promote a community either.
It’s not but somewhere we need to do something why keep ignoring the problem and compounding it. Hopefully the new zone will help new players.
Wishful, but not likely. Human behavior doesn’t allow this to work for long.
It is apparently very hard for many people to do that.
