Earthen are just tall dwarves. Let’s trade those for Rajani Mogu instead! It’s crazy we didn’t get them as an allied race back in BfA. It really felt like they were being set up for it. But yeah, let’s get them instead of tall dwarves. They fit the same role: titan constructs, stony skin, stormy vibes. Just do a straight up switcheroo.

Yeah that’d be cooler but then they’d have to actually do work on models and pay people to work on it, whereas with earthen they can be lazy and use minimally modified dwarf models and save on development costs.
There’s been too much work on the earthen to scrap them.

I would love to get given something different than the third dwarf race using the dwarf model with the same theme of rocks.
Sadly i dont think blizzard is open to exchanging them for something else

At least I believe the team have their ears open for the next allied race considering the community were granted kul’tiran, mag’har, and vulpera. As long as it’s not too crazy such as sethrak.

I don’t mind this new Earthen playable race. They look interesting. But yeah, I get it - they’re literally just re-skinned dwarves.
But let’s not forget that almost all of the allied races they’ve released so far are basically reskins of existing models/rigs.
I dunno if Blizz actually had any intention at all for the allied races to truly be unqiue when compared to the existing races. I’m gonna assume it was never the case.
The hair on the lady dwarf concept art is pretty good, hopefully that survives into the final product.

They can keep the bearded dwarf lady concept. Just shift it over to the dark irons. I’ve wanted that since forever anyway since their heritage helm doesn’t really look good without a beard sticking out of it.

But this is the first time they have used the same model twice on allied races.
And they didnt even do what they did to vulpera where they took the rig and made a whole new race out of it.
Earthen are really the only race that is on theme for the expansion. I like them better than Mogu but we’re not going to get Mogu because it’s not mop 2.0. And probably not even then, to be honest.

. . . some days I feel like the only person who is actually hyped for Earthen . . . never gonna say no to another dwarf race, nor an elf race.
Also they would have to do a LOT of work to even make Mogu a potential option, as they do not have a player paper doll model (one that can wear the actual armor players wear). As it stands now they have a modular model that can have parts enabled or disabled depending on random toggles, a trait they currently share with all the non-playable pandaria races, pygmies, legion era nightborne, and quite a few others. Combine that with having to mold the modular armor bits we’ve been getting lately (since Legion or MoP ifin you count belt buckles) it would be a whole lot of work for a race that isn’t even apart of the expansion narrative in any way, shape, or form and I just don’t see it happening.
Well I believe in them. I think they’ll figure it out. They have the same skeleton as draenei, so half the work is done.

You also need to consider the fact that they need to upscale the textures, like they did with nightborne when they literally rebuilt them from the ground up to make them playable (ya ever get a good look at a legion era nightborne’s face? The texture quality difference is painfully obvious)
That’s not even factoring in potential new emotes, customization options, class options, and hiring to separate voice actors to void them, not to mention actually having to MAKE a female Mogu model as the only one that currently exists is a specific boss model.
