This a bad choice. It was a bad choice in Cata classic, it’s a bad choice here. Even in Cata the sentiment was “we just couldn’t get it working”.

Cata classic is a ghost town partially because there’s no way to just log in and raid without having to deal with the group finder.

Please reconsider this. All this will do is harm the game.

Cata classic is a ghost town because the game is MOP waiting room at this point, Cata also got very little attention due to SOD/Hardcore/Era being worked on. The game isn’t a ghost town because no LFR lol

I think it’s a bit weird to have RDF for endgame dungeons like H+ but not want LFR while I’m probably more on the side of not wanting both but this will definitely turn off more the more solo type of players. I’m a bit surprised but I don’t think it’s wrong to have this vision just that it could be more consistent.

It would be great now to have an answer on server consolidation going into mop and if there will be anything to make the legendary questline easier on alts as with no LFR this can become a bigger concern. (and yes I saw that dungeons would replace some part of the legendary questline but this might be not enough considering there are also rep requirements to the questline)

I don’t mind the change. I would rather LFR be an option for those that like it… but it is what it is… probably required doing something and we know that is the poison of this dev team…

At least this time they aren’t letting EVERYONE get FULL LFR gear BEFORE the raid tier opens up. A much wiser approach.

This is almost certainly what it is.

They broke LFR trying to make it 10 man(which noone asked for) in cata classic and I guess they messed it up again in MoP and are now trying to gaslight us into thinking it’s intentional.

For who? Those who gloat about someone else’s method of playing being taken out? Those who gloat over people who already got a tier of gear below what flex gives? Honestly that’s cringe as hell.

If strengthening the raiding community is the primary goal, there is so much that should be done:

  1. Merging servers and getting everyone to the same place with (free) transfers. Right now I have friends on Faerlina…Mankrik…Benediction. They are being forced to relevel on Benediction and join new guilds. How is that strengthening the raiding community?

  2. A thriving (single) Discord server run by Blizzard for the megaserver. The community run Discords have good people in them, but they are ineffective for guild recruitment, for finding people to play with. Imagine instead an official run WoW Discord server extremely optimized for finding groups, guilds, PvP, everything.

  3. Ingame “Discord-style” group recruitment tab. Forcing officers to sit ingame for 8 hours per day recruiting for their raid run might look good for metrics, but it’s hurting the game long term. If you want to truly maximize the number of people in groups and raiding guilds, why not build ingame systems for this?

What do you guys think?

LFR is unnecessary.

Being in a guild and being social is part of wow. Dont like it? retail is there for you

Not having to farm M+ to raid is one of the best parts about Classic, and it’s really frustrating that farming dungeons for tier/trinkets got added with Dragon Soul and is now continuing in MoP. Let me raidlog after doing reps at launch without feeling like I’m letting down my friends.

No LFR is a good thing. Encouraging organized group play is good and the content really isn’t that hard.

By that comment alone it looks like you don’t even play cata classic

I have played Cata since launch and raided every week wym

Casuals be like “we hate raid or die” then Blizz puts in a great non-raid avenue for gearing and they hate that too.

You’d be farming dungeons for pre-bis anyway though.

I’ll add a supportive word. LFR absolutely negatively impacts the raiding scene, and I’d be happier with almost any solution that involves its removal. That said, I do worry a little about the impact Celestial dungeons will have on players. The launch of Twilight dungeons led to a pretty dramatic grind when they first came out, and I’d prefer that not become a thing at the start of every tier.

then you are just not saying the truth then

Nice job not reading anything I said.

By your logic, if they said “We’re taking out Battleground queues for any kind of casual content. It’s in the best interest for everyone to require a premade raid for competitive RBG play.” … and you complained, I could say the same thing to you.

And for valor most likely for a while. If they keep the gearing as fast as in Dragonsoul it only takes a couple days while M+ is something that can take most of the season in term of grind because of how the vault and crest system work.
