Having trouble choosing professions. LW is really good for my rogue but I am concerned it might not hold up at later levels, what with running dungeons and quests. Inscription would be cool for extra abilities but are they worthwhile later on too?
Leatherworking is the most versatile, but realistically neither are going to be good at end game. You want JC/engineering or BS/engineering.
Leatherworking has its advantages, such as being able to get free leg enchants and basically free bracer enchants, as well as being able to craft rare patterns first. Inscription gets you some really nice shoulder enchants and the ability to make darkmoon cards, but requires you either spend a lot of gold on herbs or do a lot of farming.
Thanks for the input!
Inscription is easy to power level
Thank you everybody.
Inscription was only decent in first month to rip everyone off for new glyphs before prices plummeted. After that I don’t see a reason to slot it.
Sounds like engineering may be worth it long term. Plus I have a ridiculous amount of copper right now.
Don’t forget Shadow Resist to Bracers for Algalon progression with one’s guild.
The Engineering+JC/BS meta subjugates really miss out on something. There’s more to this game than offensive numbers lmao. Engineering is good and worthwhile. I’ll get behind that all day.
JC and BS have tanked in their use outside of a couple +1s to gear for MASSIVE DPS
This is at best a dramatic oversimplification and at worst just completely wrong.
The real answer is… outside of engineering it really doesn’t matter at all even at end game (among crafting professions anyway.) Pick whatever you want.
There is no reason to take BS over LW in any circumstance though, so that’s just incorrect.
BS gives an extra 2 slots which with epic gems is an extra 80 AP, but you have to invest in the extra 2 gems to gain the benefit. And since epic gems aren’t even available yet, currently it’s just flat out inferior to any other crafting profession @ +64 AP (and you still have to keep up with your blue gems to gain the benefit which on my server are a couple hundred G a piece…)
LW fur lining gives you an extra 80 AP over the standard enchant, while also saving you money on the enchant as well as the leg enchants, as well as allowing you to craft a few BOP items that are useful, although less so in P2.
“JC only” epic gems also give an extra 84 AP (in P3,) but have the added benefit of allowing you to socket in arp, expertise, hit or just AGI which can have an extra benefit. They are a little better than normal now though for the same reason BS is worse, without epic gems available the AP difference is closer to 108, but that gap will close in P3.
Enchanting give you ring enchants which also give 80 AP.
Alchemy gives 82 AP over the standard flasks
Inscription enchants give 80 AP over standard enchant (and means you won’t have to do the Hodir rep grind to exalted…)
Tailoring is also an unintuitive choice as the proc on the cloak enchant is actually very good.
