Infectious Twirl, physical harassment

Somebody didn’t read the stickies.

It’s abuse.

It’s not a matter of debate here. Report the offending player in game, and post any suggestions on GD.

Care to enlighten us on how to determine the offending player (clearly you haven’t seen how this works)?

Maybe lean back from this mindset - everyone here is trying to help. Needless jabs isn’t helpful to anyone. The CS forum is for infomation, which everyone here is trying to do.

What he suggested isn’t helpful in this scenario.

I’d recommend adding to the current thread in the General forums here:

It certainly sounds like this is being abused or possibly bugged (not working as intended).

Care to enlighten us how, if you don’t know who is doing it, how are players to report them through a ticket? It cuts both ways.

The fact is, to report players abusing something, you do it in-game or with a Support ticket. Complaining about it in here does nothing. Just because there are a lot of Blue responses does not mean this forum is to “get attention” or report anything.

It absolutely was. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t make it the wrong advice.

Reporting players → Right-click in game or a Support ticket
Report a bug with the toy/buff → Bug Report Forum
Suggest a change the toy/buff → General Forum. And just because it’s come up very recently, there is already a thread going (Perl linked above), so add to that thread and don’t start a new one.

My exact point was there is no way to figure out who the person who originally brought the buff to an area is, and thus no way to report them (like the person I responded to suggested). The response feels like a robotic response you get from those chats that all customer support sites make you navigate through before you can speak to a human (did you reboot your computer, reset your addons, reset your settings, etc.), and as I said in this scenario provides no real help.

Plus reporting it in game, feels like sending something into a black hole (just like posting in the bug report forum). That’s why people seek out the forum titled “Customer Support” in hopes of actually reaching a human being at Blizzard and getting some kind of response. Sadly, the point of this forum really isn’t that, and the title is misleading to most, hence why the majority of the threads here end in the same way.

Why, because there is no instant gratification or reply (does there honestly need to be?)

Yes, which is why we (forum regulars) try to point the posters in the right direction.

Yes, there is. Open a ticket and explain the situation.

What do you want? A shoulder to cry on? Someone to compliment you and tell you what a wonderful person you are for trying to report people?

It doesn’t work that way. A question was asked, and it was answered. There’s no need for anything flowery or uplifting, just like there’s no reason for anything insulting and degrading. The answer is just matter-of-fact.

And while you think it’s not helpful, it’s the course of action if you want to report someone. They do not take reports in the forums, especially this one. The proper channels need to be used.

Ironically, posting in this forum IS the black hole. As I said above, just because you see a lot of Blue responses in here does not mean post here to get attention.

Reporting players through the correct channels is not even close to a black hole. Lurk in this forum for a day or two, and you will see threads almost constantly about punishments because other players reported them. No, what you want is a fast lightning bolt to smite these people, where you can see and laugh at them. Sorry, but that doesn’t happen.

The majority of threads in here end with a question being answered with facts. Whether or not a player likes those facts is a question mark, but that’s irrelevant.

The only time a thread ends poorly (like this one), is when players are expecting something unrealistic. Things don’t get fixed immediately, and players don’t get punished immediately. There is a process to follow, even if you don’t like it.

Reports have NEVER been taken in this forum, or on the forums at all. That’s not what it’s for. I’ve been around a LONG time (just shy of 18 years, since Vanilla, though I am just coming back after a break of many years (other than 2 months at the beginning of SL I haven’t played since the end of Legion), and there wasn’t ever a time where you could come to the forums for “GM action”.

As long as I’ve been here, the instruction given for things like this is “use the in-game ticketing system” or “submit a suggestion if you want something to change”.

You know what’s missing?

A proper bug report about this.

No, it ain’t. Further, that’s done in game as well as many others advised others to make tickets about this issue and I advised others to do so as well. Funny how about 20 posts from ‘helpful’ CS regulars were snarky and rude the entire time.

Like you? Anyways, the thread got moved to Bug Reports where it will get some visability.

Like you, actually, continuing to do so and follow it here. It already had viability, though Blues even on the forums are far less helpful than they were in the past (no surprise)

No, just not candy coated.

The forums are not staffed 24/7, if you didn’t know.

Also, if it’s an issue that the devs are aware of and/or looking into, the forum staff won’t have much to offer that hasn’t already been mentioned until such time as the devs provide their progress in the matter. Remember, what can seem like a simple thing to fix often isn’t given the complexity of the game.

Reporting a player isn’t an option in this case because it’s a contagion - once it touches any player they go spinning and flashing, hitting another player that goes spinning, etc. A lot of innocent people are going to get reported for doing nothing. Also, yes, it’s disruptive and malicious when you’re in a battle ground and someone spams this in the start area and you lose because you can’t leave the gate.

“Are they using it maliciously OR is it just because YOU don’t like it?” is what I keep seeing and it’s pretty disappointing.

So is Bug Report forum really a huge black hole? Because there is no other way to report any problems without the FAQ pushing people here.
