Removing rating requirements from gear would do wonders for population, for starters.
Moderating BGS to ban the bots would also do wonders.
This isnât some âwhat can we do!?â situation. We know exactly what needs to be done.

I donât even think rating requirement on gear is even a issue but they can remove it (I personally wouldnât care) but I think one of the big issues is that gearing for PvP in wrath requires a lot of raiding and if you want to be on par with other top players then you need BiS items or at least mostly BiS.
Ulduar is extremely boring and is way too long of a raid which makes people less likely to even care to play the game or to have alts, compared to Naxx which was a super easy raid and BiS was not as strong as 232/238 vs 252 ilvl Ulduar.
Honestly this season is just really bad and the MMR inflation system just makes it even worse, what they should do is remove the MMR inflation system and maybe lower rating requirements on gear, ToC is a much faster raid and PvP gear in s7 is decent so itâs not completely outmatched since Relentless is 251 ilvl vs ToGC 258 and there are actual haste PvP items in season 7.

i honestly donât think removing reqs would help at all, but at this point im not overly averse to the idea
I think people just hate wrath pvp/wrath meta. I played 14 3s matches the other day and all 14 enemy teams had an ele sham, and like 12 had an Hpal. Itâs just boring after a while. i didnât really play tbcc 3s much but it still felt like it had more comps, even with half of them being RMP.
The majority of my friend list barely even play BGs (especially with all the bots now that blizz do nothing about), arena gear is meaningless to most Classic players besides maybe a weapon or a relic that will help them parse.
wrath meta is fine, people that never played just assume all you can play is pala/warrior, but wizard comps melt them, just season 5 theres not lot of res or haste in the game.
Shadow priest/mage, Affliction warlock/resto shaman, shadow priest/rog all beat Hpala/arms warrior in season 7/season 8
the problem is the cheating, and boasting via RMT that kills arena for newer players, certain streamers farm low ranks boost to w/e their RMT payment asks which kills it for anyone new trying to learn.
people are sick of the same 5-10 people farming low bracket, getting those new players more pvp gear early on would at least help them survive long enough to learn the game.
I gotten my druid to 2400 this season, it was harder in the 1700 cr range because i had to play vs a pro gamer that wonât be named selling his boosts for IRL money, i canât imagine what new players have to go through at low 2v2 arena rankings.
also the pvp vendors are just incomplete, we are missing several sets such as the haste armor sets for casters, missing the weapons, basically forcing people to GDKP to buy a uld 25 weapon, was never like this in 2009-2010 og wotlk.
just lazy on blizzards part, legit a intern is managing classic wotlk. They only care about catering to the 1% cringe warcraft log raid logger parsing community cuz their modern team only focuses on raiding in retail.
pvp is bad on retail wow as well.

How specifically does removing rating requirements get people to play? If youâre not capable of getting to 1800, how does removing the requirement for 1800 gear suddenly make you able to get to 1800?
BGs arenât rated and Blizzard does ban bots. Letâs talk about max level. If you think thereâs a large segment of the population who ONLY does bgâs, well, I want whatever youâre drinking.
So, you really havenât solved the issue in forcing or luring people to play. These issues were present when Wrath was current and we had 12M people playing the game.
BUFF RESIL in Arena and maybe a few thousand more players will start playing wotlk pvp again. Itâs frustrating trying to play alts and push past 1800-2k+ when everyone you fight in in bis pve hardmode gear when half of us cant even get pve gear bc were stuck on a crap server with out a population. Just buff resil or open bene already. poor business model in full effect rn
because majority of the time itâs a gear discrepancyâŚthis is world of warcraft bruh, someone farming lower brackets in full phase 6 bis vs someone in just hateful is going to be impossible unless youâre a 3k rated player smurfing lower brackets.

or they can ban the people boosting for real life money would solve tons of issues lower brackets are having, but the people doing it are âfamousâ and get special treatment. just inept moderation by Blizzard.

maybe my account is busted, but 35% crit on my sheet translates to 12% on autos, 15% on MS, and 55% crit on overpower. (average from details! tracking over hundreds of games)
Not everyone is dekel with a 50% crit rate on everything in PVP lol. I can see his crit stat sheet be less than mine but he will hold 50% crit for the next 20 games in a row, sometimes getting kills after chaining 8 crits in a row, but I can go all day without even scoring 3 crits in a row outside of recklesness. Ive finished games where 30 overpowers had a 25% crit rate overall when its 85% before resil.

No, it encourages more people to queue which is beneficial for the entire ladder. The rating itself they get doesnât matter.

Disagree and you have no actual data to back up your argument. Perhaps you should be more concerned with the number of stupid changes to Wrath Classic itself that drove people away. Giving free gear isnât going to get people to keep playing.
Just reset mmr each season. Thatâll help a bit too. And make it so you canât gem swap in arenas. Might as well ban swapping specâs while the que has popped too to prevent people trying to counter a specific comp. Takes the fun out of the surprise.
Yes, it literally will. At the end of the season when arena gear is free everybody is playing and gearing.

Sounds like youâre just bad at the game and want welfare epics to still be bad. The game is just fine with gear locked behind rating and you have zero data to support that people are going to suddenly log in and play if it was free today. If you canât get to 1800 in 2s or 3s, then perhaps you should just stick to doing random battle grounds or Diablo Immortal.

am 1630 and i think they should keep the rating reqs. It felt very good last week finally being able to buy the chest piece and I enjoy this form of gear progression that unlocks as soon as you are good enough to unlock it (unlike PvE where I just pray to RNGesus to drop me a flare every week)

Why would anyone want to play arena when all the PvE programs hacks and cheats are allowed? Lets download AutoHotkey, and the bot can play the game for me
