I think this should be the case for most of wow’s rng stuff. This game has years and years of things to hunt for if one so desires, being able to target and hunt things with an actual hope of getting the item in question is good gameplay. Rather at this point I would consider viewing .001 or lower droprates as fine a form of stockholm syndrome.

Anytime this topic comes up, I feel it needs to be said with WoW every time. This would make the experience so much better with all legacy content. I FINALLY got Clutch of Ji-Kun and Heavenly Onyx Cloud Serpent (both on the same day) after YEARS of farming it, and even then, I would LOVE to see people who decide to farm something get it within a reasonable amount of time running the content.

signed. but i think the number should be lower. something we all agree on. like 10 maybe

That doesn’t seem so bad. I mean, I don’t necessarily want to be a catboy but they seem to get a lot of attention. Maybe it’d work out for me.

Sounds exactly like what a cot boy would say.

I’d like to see this for the Fel-succubus grimoire.

This should be the norm for every boss drop in the game.
Every boss should have a specific boss token.
Every X tokens would enable you to just buy an item from that boss’s drop table.
Make X something like 8 for raid bosses and 15 for dungeon bosses.
Make it double the price for mounts/extra rare items/RNG legendaries if you must.

We’d still get RNG, but have an alternate path to fight against bad luck.

Increasingly high drop chances does the same thing without currency, and would be an even better solution, but one I don’t see Blizzard going for with their current currency mania.

it does kind of suck though that one person can get a mount within a few tries and the other extreme is that a 1/100 mount could take 1000 attempts. If you’re REALLY unlucky you might just never get it no matter how many tries. I don’t know…I’m split on it, there should be extremely scarce items that not everybody has, but the randomness of mount drops can be painful.

I don’t agree with .5% (additive) though, for me that is way, way…way too high. It would almost never even take 100 attempts to get a 1/100 mount because by then you’re at a 51% chance every attempt and growing. My idea would be way more harsh lol, like after 100 attempts at a 1/100 mount you’re at a 2% drop chance instead of a 1%…or even 1.5%… or less. Anyway, for me just knowing that it’s a tiny, tiny bit more likely every attempt would set my mind at ease a bit and dampen frustration since it wouldn’t feel like a total waste of time every time said mount didn’t drop.

but this could be a lose/lose for Blizzard because they almost certainly wouldn’t want to make it .5% additive every time I think it would need to be much lower…then guess what, people will just complain. People will literally complain that after 100 attempts it’s 2% drop and they still don’t have the mount.

Ahh… Ok. That makes sense.

For me personally I wouldn’t be able to justify the time spent for the payoff, but that’s just me.

Enjoy your random mounts, and I hope you get your elusive drops soon.

As someone currently hunting for the mechagon mounts, I support this.

I’m trying for Mimiron’s Head and the Tomb Stalker mount currently. And I’m pretty sure they don’t exist, lol.

I’ve been running Ulduar off and on for years. I have never seen it. It also took me 7 years of running ICC to get Invincible, so maybe RNG just hates me.

Cool, I’m a mount collector too.

What’s painful about it? The time investment most of the reason to do it. It gives you hundred of little goals to shoot for. It’s certainly not about the mounts themselves. I don’t have 580 butts.

I think they already significantly buffed the drop chance for that just recently. A buddy and I decided to reset farm it on heroic about a week ago. Got mine on the 3rd run, same exact mob dropped for him the very next run. Others in the Warlock forum reported similar experiences after having them taken away for the rework. But who knows. Could just be a few of us got really lucky.

I don’t think it likes me too well either.

It’s no fun running a raid for years on end for “no reason”. At 100 kills it would still take 2 straight years of not missing a week to get the mount. If you have a problem with that level of dedication and requirement for a bad luck protection system I don’t know what to tell you.
