Im a mount collector currently sitting around 580. Mounts are such a painful time sink. I would really like to see Blizz implement an reward system where for each attempt on a mount, your account drop rate would increase by like .5%.
That would save us years of farming the same mounts and make it more rewarding since we could then spend that time chasing other mounts or collectables.
I don’t mean to be that guy and bring up FF14 but…
Just have tokens drop on every kill like what they have there. If the mount drops early and you win it, fantastic. Otherwise, if you kill it 100 times with no drop, at least you have the tokens to just straight up buy the mount off a vendor now.
And this is without talking about removing the weekly lockout of loot for older content allowing you to grind it at will.
Agreed.
The more time you spend, the higher your chances.
Actually, this would drastically increase some players /played time if they knew every time they farmed for X, their chance of a drop were slightly increased.
literally motivating them to run for it more because of the increase itself.
Obviously rarer mounts give smaller increases, but still more enticing.
This please, it doesn’t create a sense of excitement when you finally get that mount, it’s a sense of relief that you never have to see that annoying place again wherever it might be.
Thems fightin words to some in here who might take digital nothing mounts too seriously lol
Its a video game…relax for god sake. No one will die if someone gets your favorite mount
conversely, you’ll be just fine if they DONT have to run 400 more times for it.
and one has to wonder what your personal motivation in worrying yourself at night over it is that they might get it.
thoughts?
Kind of a dumb take for a videogame you pay a monthly sub for. It’s kind of sad how many bad feeling systems wow players have just acceppted as the standard instead of asking “okay but why”
You are actively arguing in favor of keeping a video game less fun/rewarding. Who hurt you?
This isnt real life. We play this game to escape the fact that life is painful and some of us won’t ever get what we dream of having. We do not need WoW to teach us that.
And I am not talking about hand outs. I am talking about a system that requires work but there is a clear progression towards a goal within that work. Bad luck protection like OP suggests offers that.
That was one of my unlucky mounts as well as I was just over 500 attempts for the normal one.
At the same time, there have been multiple other ~1% mounts I got on the 1st-5th attempts. Hopefully the numbers balance out.
My most painful mount was the archeology scepter mount. I had so many turn-ins that rarity said I had a 98.888% chance of having found it by now. That was many months in many expansions farming those two MoP dig zones haha. I was so excited when I got it!
I’m fine with sometimes having bad luck and then finally getting it. Feels good.
What I don’t like are those ultra rares that are like 0.03%. The math makes those statically impossible to ever really grind and are just lottery attempts.
I’m in favor of a token system as well. Considering you can only do the fight once a week, you probably deserve it after doing it across 100 weeks. It’s taken me literal years to get certain mounts.
