Incentivized raiding without GDKP

First and foremost… Bring back GDKP.

Considering this is very unlikely at this point based on the silence from the devs on this topic and any discussion surrounding GDKP is met with childish bickering from both sides, I’ve decided to collaborate with a friend on how we can solve some of the issues that we believe GDKP alleviates, without actually bringing it back to the game.

Primarily, incentivizing players to continue raiding older content, as well as a monetary reward for players that enjoy raiding on multiple characters throughout the week.

Also I included a “revamped” level 53-60 Feralas incursion idea. I personally was looking forward to the Warden bags that were originally in the PTR, but were removed due to supposed negative player feedback (those that deleted their Emerald Chips already).

Ive broken everything into 3 sections.

1. Raid Changes
2. Revamped Feralas Incursion & Warden Bags
3. Updated Undermine Trader Inventory

1. Raid Changes

Start with reducing the H3 fire resist requirement. I feel any number between 130-155 lowers the barrier to entry enough for returning players and alts to regularly raid this content each week while still maintaining that distinction between H2 and H3.

Also allows more room for raiders doing BWL to start using their T2 gear without having to make too many hard swaps in order to meet an absurd FR requirement.

This also creates a natural nerf to the content to allow guilds to continue clearing H3 even faster each week for bindings/eyes/max reals since your swapping out less gear to meet the FR cap and will be killing things much faster.

Next… make it so bosses in MC drop Reals! We have the Tarnished Undermine Reals in the game, we might as well use them! I have included below an rough idea of how many could drop off each boss. We believe this gives players a little bit of bad luck protection as well as another source of income to reward their time spent in raid each week (see updated undermine trader inventory).

(H1: 1 per first 8 bosses, 2 off domo, 5 off rag, 15 total) 3 additional real boxes each week.
(H2: 2 per first 8 bosses, 3 off domo, 6 off rag, 25 total) 5 additional real boxes each week.
(H3: 2 per first 8 bosses, 3 off domo, 6 off rag, 10 off meatball, 35 total) 7 additional real boxes each week.

When phase 6 releases, we do the same thing for BWL.

2. Revamped Feralas Incursion

(Purpose of the revamp is to utilize the wardens bags that were originally in the PTR as well as offer another avenue for players to acquire crafting materials.)

“The Emerald Wardens have been successful in preventing the nightmare incursions… At least for now dun dun dun! To show their appreciation for the valiant efforts of the Horde & Alliance, the wardens have partnered with the Durotar Supply & Logistics, and the Azeroth Commerce Authority in order to distribute crafting materials that have been found throughout the incursions.”

New crafting supply bags available on all DSL & ACA vendors.

Warden’s Herb Bag (5 Emerald Chips) (Can be mixed bag of 1-3 items)
Ghost Mushroom (6-12)
Dreamfoil (6-12)
Gromsblood (6-12)
Mountain Silversage (6-12)
Plaguebloom (6-12)
Icecap (6-12)
Black Lotus (1)

Warden’s Enchanting Bag (5 Emerald Chips) (Can be mixed bag of 1-3 items)
Large Brilliant Shard (2-5)
Greater Eternal Essence (1-3)
Illusion Dust (6-12)

Warden’s Mineral Bag (5 Emerald Chips) (Can be mixed bag of 2-5 items)
Thorium Ore (6-12)
Blue Sapphire (1-3)
Azerothian Diamond (1-3)
Large Opal (1-3)
Arcane Crystal (1-3)

Solution for the current emerald chip situation… delete all current emerald chips, mail out chips depending on the players reputation with the Emerald Wardens.

(Feedback needed on this one, does this seem fair to those who grinded out the reputations below?.)

Exalted: Emerald Chips (250)
Revered: Emerald Chips (100)
Honored: Emerald Chips (50)

Feralas is the last remaining incursion that still requires assistance from the Horde & Alliance. Revamp the Feralas incursion with mobs similar level to the Searing Gorge dailies.

There are 18 quests for the Feralas incursions currently. Taking this many quest spots up is crazy imo in general, idk who thought it was a good idea…

Start Feralas dailies at level 53. Remove the Rescue & Intelligence quests. This gives us 9 daily quests as well as the 3 gathering dailies to get emerald chips. Totaling 15 emerald chips per day. A lot of the numbers were just yoinked from the current searing gorge dailies.

Feralas Mission I: Defeat Children of Cenarius Rewards 1 Emerald Chips + 200 reputation Levels 53-60
Feralas Mission II: Defeat Harpies Rewards 1 Emerald Chips + 200 reputation Levels 53-60

“Bears the seal of the Emerald Wardens, although it definitely looks like somebody took a peek inside”

T1 Boot & Glove tokens

Scorched Core Boots
Molten Scaled Boots
Incandescent Boots

Scorched Core Gloves
Molten Scaled Gloves
Incandescent Gloves

I have 14 unused tier tokens on my shaman. Surely other adventurers have a similar number and would go through Pix Xizzix to offload some of these unused tokens…

One last thing to add. It would be nice to have a daily dungeon quest that encourages people to clear dungeons still. Maybe a 5 real bonus to go kill Baron Rivendare, Emperor Thaurissan, Darkmaster Gandling, big dragon in LBRS, Dire maul bosses, DFC… you get the idea.

Thats basically it, i’d love to hear what everyone thinks on the topic. I appreciate those who bothered reading.

Would appreciate feedback on these ideas.

Keep GDKP’s banned.

Yeah, so we’ve got 2 historical test cases for your ideas, tbc and wotlk classic. In TBC, old phases were nerfed and rewarded badges of justice. I personally ran karas every week till the end of the xpac. Same with SSC/TK. The nerfs kept the content alive, and the badge reward gave people a reason to help.

Juxtapose that with WOTLK. Old raids were never nerfed, so basically no one ran Ulduar hard modes outside of Vezax/yogg/alg. There was no emblem incentive because the old raids dropped an irrelevant emblem. So, the amount of people in Ulduar was incredibly low in late TOGC/ICC. Because of this, the game started to feel dead outside of your guilds raid night.

So, with that in mind. I think old raids should always see a nerf and have tokens on them that are relevant to their gearing path. I ran extra MCs on 2 alts last week and won no loot. It’d have been nice if there was something I got to take away from the raid. MS/OS and SR are severely lacking in this respect. They leave you feeling like you’ve wasted time.

Lol i stopped at that title. “Incentivized raiding without gdkp”. The incentive is to get gear n have fun. Bye. Keep your crappy GDKPs n other RMT tricks out of classic.

This is weird fan fiction.

No, P2W in games is cringe.

P2w is buying player power that can only be gotten by spending real money.

It would be like Blizzard selling Thunderfury 2 on the shop for $49.99 and it has double the stats and damage of Thunderfury.

You see how no player can match the player power of the person who spends real money?

Y’all really watering down this definition to literally mean every MMO.

Raid because you think it is fun and want to?

It is a video game, why does everyone need incentives to do everything.

I’ll be honest i didn’t read your entire post but agree with this.

But even if its not gdkp literally anything is better than what it is currently.

If you couldn’t get any more rewards in the game would you play? Will you pass on loot for the remaining duration of the game?

If rewards didn’t matter why make the raids have loot?

lol no

If it meant still having fun, yep.

In a way I already do.

I do raids sometimes with my main that needs no gear from said raid just help those that still can use stuff in the raid. (big easy example, doing binding runs).

Depending on what others need or how geared my current toon is, I pass on loot to those that need it more than I, for the most part.

I am not saying dont have rewards from raid that dont matter, I am saying not everyone should need an incentive to do something. Especially in a video game.

So are you okay with never getting any more loot here on out? Would you still play as much as you do or look forward to it as much? Nothing in the game is actually changing, you are just going to pass on the loot here on out.

i love the idea, but youve wasted your time, blizz doesnt take ideas from players. The ideas must come from within the company and therefore they have no ideas.

The incentive is that it’s a videogame and you have fun playing it. There doesn’t need to be anything else.

???

If you don’t need anything from the raid and don’t feel like doing that raid for fun, don’t do it.

Yeah that’s not how the game works bro sorry.
