I’m pretty certain we’re in the minority, then. Most don’t want “no pathfinder and old content model” they want simple “no pathfinder”, which is problematic for reasons I described a couple of posts back.
I love this argument. Wrath is not way better actually its probably worst. The dungeons are stupidly easy, catchup gear is easy to get , less BGs, less arenas , no reason AT all to ever leave dalaran and i guess the raids were OK.
Owns a Webster’s dictionary, can’t even use proper grammar.
Before WoD released and this debacle started a blue said that they might give flying at 6.1 with a quest chain or so. I decided to wait til then before buying and of cause we know what happened.
When this was mentioned though I thought about something similar to Cloud Serpents. I loved the quest chain and dailies. I think I got Cloud Serpent flying on 5 characters. I didn’t have to run around the ground though to get it.
PF was NOT a ‘compromise’ and IF it had been players voices were loud enough to have kept it from being put in the game IF blizzard was listening.
I would in a heartbeat, the catch-up starts at heroic raid gear of the current patch now. Unsustainable to invalidate content that quickly.
This is a good point. The devs want to control everything you do. They want to know exactly how fast you’re progressing your character. They want to keep players tethered together so no one can ‘gain an advantage’. They put in all these systems so they can tune that dial. That’s what these legendaries are about. It’s what grinding ap is about. It’s what the systems in Shadowlands are about. All these issues are tied together. WoW isn’t a game anymore. Blizzard plays the game for you, essentially.
points out grammatical error to deflect from facts not supporting argument about pathfinder and jokes about ‘compromises’ that never happened.

12 million subs disagree with you.
You know what I spent most of my time doing in Wrath? Flying around and exploring. I would spend HOURS every day just flying around and soaking in this wondrous world. I loved it. You can get a sense of how amazingly beautiful the zones are. Blizzard took this away from me. And I still resent it.
Yeah of course cause when you play open world games like GTA you really get the full experience if you play the entire game in a chopper from start to finish… You dont get to soak in the world by flying you only get nice window dressing since flying makes any semblance of vibrancy pointless.
Continues using bad grammar.
Sorry bud, but no one credible will take you seriously.

Actually it is a shock considering what a disaster BFA has been. You would think after all the negative feedback that they would want to change this feature (along with pretty much everything else that is BFA). Yes pathfinder is not the sole reason BFA sucked, but it sure was an extra kick in the pants on top of all the other nonsense.
I disagree with this entirely. Pathfinder had nothing to do with BFA being atrocious. BFA was atrocious for a whole plethora of reasons. But Pathfinder wasn’t one of them. This Pathfinder experience was the easiest by far, wasn’t time gated (in the sense that we had to do a 12 week long quest chain for part 2), and has resulted in us flying through more of the content than WoD or Legion ever did. Especially given what’s going on in 8.3.
Pathfinder is fine. If they go with this exact model of Pathfinder for Shadowlands, I will be pleased and content. The grind was practically invisible. Easily achieved, and in a timely fashion.
I know several people who quit playing over pathfinder. Well several as in 3 but considering I only know 4 people who ever played wow and 3 quit over it thats 75% of the people I know who don’t play because of pathfinder.
Flight was never an issue until Blizzard made it an issue. You never saw people complaining they coudl fly at max level before WOD. IT would have cost them nothing to leave it alone and they wouldn’t have lost players. In fact it would have saved them money because they wouldn’t have to spend the time to design pathfinder. I am sure its easier to just put a flightmaster in the new city with a gold unlock.
There was an abrupt change in the overall game design starting with Warlords.
They started the ability prune in WoD to get ready for an alternative progression system. They wanted to remove flight to keep everyone grounded to extend content. It’s this series of changes that brought us to BfA and the Azerite RNG-dependent gearing system, the time-gated war campaign, open world content that consists of nothing but gated reputation dailies and patches doled out with 30-minutes of playable content.
It’s why the game is in such a rut. WoW is no longer an open world where the player has agency to choose the content they prefer to play on their own schedule. Everything now is dialed in for Blizzard’s schedule. It’s as if they don’t trust players anymore and it shows.
Every expansion reveal since Legion I hope that they’ll turn this design ship around to a different course. I’m still hoping.

I didn’t appreciate the WoD zones until I had flying. I didn’t enjoy the Legion zones until I had flying. Forcing players on the ground doesn’t immerse us. It makes me impatient to get through it.
Maybe it would be different if flying had never been added. But Blizzard abandoned that way back in TBC. There’s no going back, and their attempt to in WoD was completely foolish. You can’t give players a convenient and feature for years and then take it away. And now they use flying as a manipulative measure to string players along to keep them subbed and paying. And saps defend it calling it a ‘compromise’. It’s this kind of cluelessness that facilitates bad game design.
I just started playing this expansion three weeks ago–I have game time only because my brother bought it for me so we could play Classic–and though I have two 120s, I am nowhere near being able to complete the idiotic Pathfinder before the next expansion arrives.
Flight became an issue because gankers didn’t want their victims to fly away. Though I don’t play on a PvP server or want to PvP at all, I could see how being able to fly away from someone charging to attack you would be highly beneficial to you.

Blizzard didn’t take that from you.
It’s still in the game.
One person expresses frustration so several of you are going to claim to buy extras just to spit on him eh? I guess people need a reminder that Pathfinder wasn’t even a thing until Blizzard was caught with their pants down claiming WoD wasn’t designed for flying enabled. Pathfinder wouldn’t even BE an issue if there wasn’t also two parts with SEVERAL MONTHS in between them.
If you were allowed to fly in the original zones upon completing the first part less people would be bothered. Waiting 6+ months to fly in content you’ve completed 6+ times is at least in my eye unnecessary. I don’t agree with how the OP is voicing dissent I think if they’re that mad they should unsub entirely but I won’t spit on them by claiming to buy extras just for the lulz.
I already gave mine away I purchased all rare mounts before stopping retail version. Early on BFA sucked so I quit 2 weeks in. Did not return until the 2 week name reservation for classic started. Leveled this toon to 120 just in case BFA had improved which it had not. Playing Classic until I become bored and then quitting again most likely permanently. No game lasts forever:P
As much as you might hate it, they build a world every time and want you to play THROUGH it, not fly OVER it.
That would ruin the story the first time through.
