What’s interesting about the deep dive panel on Shadowlands is how they essentially admitted all the negative feedback from players about ability pruning and class identity was eminently valid. That they had messed up classes royally in comparison to past versions.
Which is something I’ve always said about their feedback systems — they don’t seem to work very well or take far too long to reach the decision-making stage to be impactful.
Now, if we can only get them to look at the opportunities flying opens up for engaging game play rather than simply looking at it as a punishment carrot to get players into dailies.
So continuing down the naz/argus path of on rails maze map quest worlds where they want you to waste time fighting everything between point A and B while holding flying behind some absurd time gate design that is normally only used for micro transaction items to get you to fork over extra money.
Ok, what’s the over under on when the first “We’re sorry and need to do a better job listening” post for that expansion will be?
sigh I wish… I really do, Shadowlands looks interesting but I worked my butt off getting specific FLYING mounts, most of which look absolutely stupid on the ground. Then there’s the general just wanting to Tuck my character away somewhere high and observe the terrain. Again I really do love wow’s universe and I HATE saying “I’ll quit” but it feels like my voice falls upon deaf ears at blizzard otherwise.
edit: I’m out of hearts because those are a precious resource apperantly.
It has 5 parts in shadowlands and several side campaigns and quests like mythic raid achieves to fully unlock. It is being heavily interwoven into the content and thats a good thing.
I didn’t want to believe they’d be that mean but it makes sense, they are punching your 120 to level 50, they are incorporating every expansion in the leveling process for Shadowlands according to what I’ve had explained to me.
So logic states if they are all part of the process of Shadowlands, then your not going to be able to fly at all until you get Shadowlands Pathfinder.
Indeed, the level squish, does seem to also squish all previous versions of Pathfinder 2…
the up side, that’s for fresh toons… current toons, at 120, IF I read it right, can bronze dragon to level 50… at that point, I’m not sure if you can fly everywhere except Shadowlands or not, but why would you anyway, if you’re already 50.
You think Ion and Developers are going to tell you? They won’t this is WoD all over again and I’m afraid I don’t have it in me anymore to fight it, so this chapter of my entertainment is over now.
Well, if that was the case, that would close the book for me after 15 years of WoW.
Cardinal rule of game design: don’t remove earned features or crap on player’s time investment to get those features.
That reminds of when they tried to remove ‘The Exalted’ title from players who had earned 40 exalted reputations. They were going to force players to re-earn it with 50 exalted reputations in the next expansion. That violated the cardinal rule for many; fortunately, they relented to good sense.
I’m not calling it quits just yet (still prepaid anywho) but I will be holding off on pre-orders until I have more certainty. If enough fuss is raised they’ll come forward if only to get a few more orders in. Still there’s PLENTY of time, it’s not like Shadowlands is coming out next month so it doesn’t really matter if I pre-order or wait until after it comes out.
