Yeah, there’s lots of old sub zones that require flight to reach them, Deepholm included.
However, just like WoD, they might be trying to rewrite how the game works from the ground up with the level squish, so I wouldn’t put it past them. I mean, they’ve tried this kind of stuff before.

Flying in WoW for me is a big issue since I actually play in the world. I haven’t bought any xpac with Pathfinder and wont buy any without flying. Their are better no fly games out there then WoW. Lotro has a far better story, better landscape and better avatars. Even classic is way better. So if I have to choose a game I can’t fly it will not be current WoW.
I simply meant that we wouldn’t know how the game would have evolved if flying had never been added. But it’s an irrelevant question anyway.
Then you don’t understand the appeal of flying . It’s freedom, it’s beauty, it’s seeing the world from another perspective. The whistle, portals, instant travel don’t do it for me.

Lol dead end road, right? gg
Maybe it’s a cul-de-sac and he just keeps going in circles not knowing how to get back out.

Since all systems will be changed with 9.0 the xpac is not required to find this out. So if you care about your flying in old zones wait before you buy.

That’s not what I got out of any of those panels at all.

Pathfinder was one of the best compromises they have made, and yet people still complain constantly. Usually seems one bloc does it more than the other…
I agree, and we are in the exact same boat. I keep thinking they may change their minds, but the development team has proven for years now they are ignorant on the subject.

Of course you will, Blizzard still wins.
It’s NOT new (slightly older than wow) but you might look into Everquest II, don’t ask why I recommend it… nostalgia? But it does have flying at least once you hit a certain level (forget which).
Very interesting words from the original WoW creators.
Should have been no shock to anyone
Ion literally said in WOD that pathfinder would be the way to earn flying moving forward. As it has been since that point.
Pathfinder is fine. Waiting a year+ to unlock the second half of it is not.

Classic has a completely different audience than retail does. I do not mind flying in Classic because that is part of that particular game (of course, I’m also a mage). However, I love flying in retail, not only does it get me to places faster so that I can spend my time wisely, it also allows me to experience the world in a unique way.
Sadly, the developers do not get this, and it is why they were boo’d at the Q&A.

some interesting reading from the time pathfinder was screwing over sub numbers.
" At this point, we feel that outdoor gameplay in World of Warcraft is ultimately better without flying," Hazzikostas said. “We’re not going to be reintroducing the ability to fly in Draenor and that’s kind of where we’re at going forward.”
" As expected, there’s already a lengthy post about the announcement on World of Warcraft’s main forum, which racked up 288 pages worth of replies less than 24 hours after Hazzikostas’ statements went public. Many players are using the thread to vent their frustrations, and some are canceling subscriptions.
Some player wonder why Blizzard didn’t stick to the model of previous expansions, which gave characters flight access after hitting the maximum level. This maintained the setting’s integrity while players leveled up, but provided more convenient access to the world at large after that process was complete."

yeah…screwing with flight then punishing players with PF had nothing to do with sub losses

Flying simply doesn’t exist for me anymore, unless you count from the portal room to the AH to Transmog in SW. I refuse to wait until an expansion is half over to even have a chance at it. Basically it’s a bunch of stuff I don’t usually do (never been a loremaster and grinding rep abrades my eyes), and they don’t even give me enough time to enjoy it before it’s back to square one, so I don’t even bother, which I have a sneaking feeling is what they really want us all to do. No more flying because getting it is too stupid? Yeah, we’re gonna continue to go with that and then pretend we’ve compromised by including it at all.

Giving advice and feedback isn’t me threatening Blizzard. A lot of gamers do this in hopes of improving the game.
I hate pathfinder, not the game necessarily. There is a difference, which you sadly you don’t see.
