While working on mailing things around, I hit this cap on 4 different characters, all on the same realm. I’m sure I’ve only mailed things to my own characters, so the cap is clearly less than 32, which is the amount of characters I have on this realm.
Would it be possible to raise this cap? I think it could use it if I’m hitting it that much with 32 characters and the realm character limit for a single account is much higher than that.
I have a feeling this may be a hard one to change the code for, so I’ll understand if its not possible.
Also, if I’m a rarity needing to have that much mail, I’ll understand if low priority is given to this. (I have a feeling I am and that that will happen if this change is even possible.)
PS. I’m not sure what forum to post this in. If its an oversight, I was thinking the bug forum would be the place… but I’m not sure if it actually is an oversight.
I’m not sure what the cap is at, Atenstein, but it is there to help prevent advertisement and other kinds of spam.
If that is limiting you sending mail to characters on the same WoW and/or Battle.net account, that might need to be looked at so I’d recommend Bug Report.
Yeah, I just now discovered that one of my characters actually was able to send to the character it was blocked from sending to, like 5 minutes later at most. I’m thinking this is a bug now.
I don’t believe the delay on sending email out is extraordinarily long, just enough to make it more challenging to spam to hundreds of folks in moments.
Delay? I thought this cap referred to how many different characters could be sent mail from a single character. Like, as long as a certain number of receiving characters had mail from the sender in their mailbox, the sender couldn’t send mail to a character they didn’t send mail to yet.
I was always under the impression once the cooldown was hit it was a matter of waiting until it expired. I based that on the information in the Support Article:
If you receive the error “You have reached the in-game cap of unique mail recipients”, you will need to wait and try again later. This is an in-game feature to prevent spam.
I’ve never had the opportunity to test it myself, so I couldn’t say for certain.
