In Game macro AFK

I figured out a way to write an in game macro(Using only in game macro features) that prevents afk…

Is this against TOS to use?

If it does a repeatable action with no end, it could be. Generally speaking you want to stick to one press, one action.

No one here will be able to say definitively, but it certainly sounds like it wouldn’t be allowed.

“Preventing AFK” by anything other than the player engaging with the game sounds like an express ticket to suspension for improper automation.

AFK, and the resulting idle disconnect, is an intentional design feature to prevent non-players from wasting server resources, so circumventing that is something the game operators would look at with actionable displeasure.

With the ‘one key press, one action’, this would fall under botting. Even though you’re making a macro and not using some sort of bot software, you would still need to press a key for each action. Bliz may not notice right away, but when they do, account penalties for botting are pretty harsh.

I don’t think any servers are having queues anymore, so there’s not a real consequence to getting logged out for AFK. I wouldn’t worry about it, personally.

A macro in game requires a key press to action. So if your automating that key press… thats botting basically.

What’s the macro?

/run local {Removed}

might want to edit the out, if it’s against the rules you don’t want people to use it and get into trouble.

I think the fact that they edited out my macro means that it is 100% something I should not do<3 thanks for the info

But Blizzard employees like the Support Forum Agents can see what was there before the edit, so they have the report and can get it to the hacks team to analyze.

Sniperorc may be right, but generally the SFAs aren’t liaisons with those groups. I would email the hacks team with your macro Hacks@Blizzard.com and let them know what you believe it can do.

Nothing using the ingame macro tool should allow this to happen. It works on one key stroke for one action.

If you found someone that will do this with the ingame macro tool please sent to details to the hacks@blizzard.com

I have sent them an email;

Technically it is only one action for one button; The specific action is it disables the logout feature; You click it once and it is impossible to be logged out forcefully until you reload ui which doesn’t sound TOS safe but it is only using the macro features;

I like the err on the side of caution. Generally speaking, the others are right. Allowing you to remain /afk without being marked it definitely doesn’t seem to be intended. We should probably avoid providing it publicly, but if you haven’t yet, please submit an in-game bug report so our QA team can take a look.

reasonable;
I have sent an email. It is also a macro that would have worked for the last 8 years at least looking at patch notes and changes
