In-game chat desperately needs moderation

Just disable the channel in your chat settings. I only use guild/party/raid for chat, anything else is just spam and nonsense.

Stupid language is so annoying.

i dont’ buy it OP. i’m confident i play this game more than you, and there is no toxicity in chat.

anyway, the word “toxic” is so abused these days. Some of our fragile users think a disagreement over AH price listings constitutes “toxicity”…not the listing themselves - the actual disagreement :woman_facepalming:

yeah blizz doesn’t have time for this, nor would i want them to get involved…use /ignore imo

hehe i bit a fisherman troll’s bait i think :fishing_pole_and_fish:

Chat bans are indeed account-wide. Source: I once got a 24 hour silence for posting an icon of a raccoon in Trade once while people were being racist.

I think the problem here is just you either can’t handle the chat so you can either not read it when the bs is going down or nitpick but moderation of chats shouldn’t be this thorough and strict tbh

Or just hire someone from another country.
5$ an hour here.

You want to reallocate some of the games budget into paid discord mods looking at trade chat 24/7 because you’re too lazy to hit the block button??

Ha that kind of reminds me of the movie Wild Wild West scene between the villain and Smith make fun of each other.

Well, I can see where it’d be difficult for a man of your stature to keep in touch with even HALF the people you know.

Its amazing how many people freak out about what was seen as funny less then 20 years ago.

Hmm do we lose the players who want to play the game and not deal with trolling? Or do we get rid of the trolls? Such a tough decision.

Blizz made that decision for you about 16 years ago.

So because anyone anywhere could abuse their power at any time, this game shouldnt have any moderation whatsoever? It really takes…some kind of thinking…to come to that conclusion.

Trade chat is fine. Don’t be offended by everything.

not sure if you know this, but “offended” isn’t what’s happening most of the time

Then what is happening? Please explain.

Frankly i like the unmoderated chat. While yes you get some extremes IE people being racist and political nonsense you also get some good ole fashioned immaturity and i will never grow up and become dead inside like some old biddy.

Honestly is horrendous.

Some temp bans would be nice for these 4chan incels in trade chat.

So bad on my server my wife had had trade disabled for years.

Maybe part of the problem is they’re muted, and not fully banned.

Still have to put up with these people’s crap the moment you join Discord.
Better they not play at all.

Calling people “4chan incels” violates the imaginary community rules everyone is suggesting.

You are now banned from the game forever based on the following suggested rule.

Blizzard understands that banning players like this has absolutely no effect. They simply make a new account and start all over again. Silencing them or muting their ability to interact with others is 100% the best solution.

It’s kind of sad when people don’t want toxic chat banned because it’s part of your brand.

So… why can’t we get rid of the extremes and allow the immaturity? Why would you think immaturity wouldn’t be allowed, unless your version of immaturity means people dropping racial slurs “for the lulz”, spamming political BS, conspiracy theories, etc?

Why can’t we get back to “act like an jerk, be dealt with like a jerk?” as how chat works?
