We’ve seen players intentionally interfere in World First races… it wouldn’t be a question of what they would do… it would be a question of how much damage would they do before their actions are reversed. People have no fear of ramifications for their actions (see GD regular forum troll posters)…
People make videos showing their speedrun to ban for popular Twitch streamers (or controversial ones). This… volunteer… nonsense is just a bad idea.
They traded me a letter saying I owed them gold for slander or something. It was really well written and had me cracking up. It was only like 1000 gold, so I paid up.
I would have written a long reply about how I charge for services rendered and he should be glad he got it for free. And then apologize at the end because I misread Slander for Slather… and feign embarrassment.
Trade chat is really a thing of the past, no one posts any trade, we use discord to communicate with players we play with. No need to listen to the amount of trolling and senseless conversations in trade chat. We just leave channel.
It’s all boosting and guild invites. Although I’ve found around 3am EST when I should be sleeping, actual conversation happening. I’ve met some nice people in the early AM and I just ask why they can’t be on during the day.
The tricky part is, where should Blizzard draw the line on what is/isn’t allowed in their chat channels? Or if there is a player-moderation system, what rubric will they use to judge whether a chat is acceptable or not?
I’m sorry that you’re feeling bombarded with spam and trolls in those channels, OP. But it boils down to a question of subjectivity-- how should we determine who gets to speak, or what they can say?
I’m not saying that Blizz should go 100% freedom of speech, and understand that the restrictions they do have are there with a purpose. But we can’t have them silence players because other players don’t like what’s being said.
Like you said, it would be nice if they had another channel to use so it doesn’t flood the LFG one. I always liked the idea of a WorldChat channel, myself.
