All I’m going to say is that a lot of the “nerf prot” spam I’ve seen come from the same handful of entitled people who expect there to not be a single spec or comp to counter their ret warrior teams.
These people lack so much self awareness and can’t detach their own personal bias from anything.

Eh I still think prot sits in the same space.
Instead of a lay on hands with every WoG now you’ll heal 60% of your partners hp instead.

Stunandbung is actually a good player despite his spec of choice. I don’t mind queueing into him. I mind queueing into those prots who press all their buttons and hope to roflstomp in the opener.
I don’t think tanks should be able to Q arena. I think 99.999% of prot players deserve no rating and even less respect.
That being said, let’s focus on the moral of the story here: Literally gutting a spec at this random point in the expansion is just as bad a design decision as it was to allow them to queue 3v3 in the first place.

Not trying to defend prot, but why does everyone say its not meant to be played in arena? Did I miss something where blizz made it clear that tank specs should never be played in arena?

Big true, this is just poor mismanagement from the balance team. It’s not only unthoughtful but atrocious.
The AWC is unwatchable. The only time the AWC was worth watching was when Drainerx was playing Prot and it was the most exciting Tourny in history. The fans and announcers were going wild. It was by far the most entertaining matches and people started cheering and rooting for the Prot dream. It was amazing to watch. It was like when Rocky went to Russian and everyone hated him then by the end everyone was cheering for him.
They really need to work on Tank balance and remove the 50% increased damage to Tanks because it hurts some Tanks way more than others. It would be great to see Prot War, Blood DKs and other Tanks become competitive again. It only gives the players more options to play what they love and create fun off Meta comps to make the game interesting and better.
All aspects of the game need to be balanced around the 3 class roles of Healer, Tank and Dps. Competition is better when all 3 Class roles are involved and comp diversity is at a high.
The prot war was on par with arms damage, just lacking the MS honestly, but I remember getting some 8-9k crits from prot war when they went with pve items and arpen everything.
Also prot ret was fine too, with 2set T10 bonus their main ability was doing quite a lot of damage 4-6k and their shield were always silencing and with some glyph/talents it was doing some good damage too.

Yes! This is the issue I have. Warriors are crying about it bc apparently prots are making them not have fun? I’m sorry 4 are doing that to you when 100s of warriors are doing that with there op ness lol

While Wrath is the best version of Prot and the most fun because of it’s tool kit. I think WoD also had a great version of Prot that had a great tool kit. I preferred Glad Stance in WoD because the reason I always played Prot was to do massive Shield Slams and it finally was a reality with Glad stance as a Dps.
Well the reason why Man Cleave worked so well up to Legion was because Prot had Shield Slam dispel which was equally as good if not better in some situations as MS. Then combine it with MS and it was deadly. A Prot War would lead in dispels every match soon as a Resto puts up hots Prot dispels it. Soon as a Priest bubbles Prot dispels it then Arms MS them.
Oddly they removed Prot Shield Slam dispel and gutted the spec so it can’t be played anymore and it sucks. This is why most migrated over to Prot Pal. They just want to play the game and can’t main Prot War anymore. Nerfing one Tank means reroll to the next because players enjoy playing Tanks especially Prot.
The solution would be to bring back utility and balance Tanks better across the board. This is great for the players and comp diversity.

Bung I made a post inspired by you when the nerfs hit. No matter the target, big sweeping nerfs like that shouldn’t happen with 1 day notice, nor should they happen to any spec late season. Crazy that the entire game has been crying about WW, warr, rdruid the entire season but they randomly snipe the 4 ppl playing prot pally late one Monday night. I agree it makes no sense and is wrong.

I don’t understand honestly why people are like you. I have played Prot in PvP for 15 years and now I should just stop? You know how silly that sounds right? This game has always had Tanks in PvP since the very beginning. PvP was designed to include them. It’s a part of WoW, it’s history and trying to remove that for some odd biased take you can’t get over is wrong.
PvP isn’t PvP without Tanks and that much will always be true. Just do some better class design and balance Tanks to be competitive and bring back more comp diversity to make the game and PvP better.

No, Tanks were designed to take an abnormal amount of damage from boss and adds in pve.
If you want to play tank you should just play rbg.

If tanks aren’t designed to play PvP why do they have PvP talents? Hmmm… It’s like maybe they are. You may not like it but other people do. I’m not going to berate someone for playing something they enjoy. The game can be changed any time just balance the specs so it’s less annoying to queue into. And there’s so few people that do play tanks in PvP why even waste your time and effort on them.

If you want to pvp as tank you can do rated battlegrounds, random battlegrounds, skirmishes and world pvp.
Just stay out of rated arenas.
