In a change that no one asked for, Heirlooms are soulbound once equipped

Say goodbye to mailing heirlooms that you had specifically enchanted or gemmed to pass around to alts.

I know it may not be a huge deal for some, but taking away a feature like this sucks.

Can’t you just pass the enchants to your alts via mail or Warbank? The alts can recreate the heirlooms, grab the enchants from the Warbank, and done.

Or are you talking a hand-me-down that was “used” by one alt and passed to the next alt (using the same armor type)?

Sounds like you could make some gold selling enchants.

Dude… they are in the collections tab already , click on icon to create in bag on ALL characters.
You concern is totally misplaced!

Once you buy it is in the collections tab accessible by all of your characters, If that makes it more clear for you?

some of us have old school enchants still, like the shoulder enchants on them

I made a chants tab in the warbank, scroll enchants are tradable across server, which is great , cause my horde chanter makes the best chants.

You’re 2 weeks late to the show.

That’s nice.

This is misrepresented. They are warbound until equipped which means the old garrosh looms that I have enchanted and gemmed can’t be tossed between alts like it was before. Now it is stuck on the character.

It was great for older enchants and speedruns.

Like I said I get that some people aren’t impacted by this, but cutting something that was already in place is a mistake.

This is not what I am talking about at all.

I am talking about how you could reuse heirlooms and mail them between alts, fully gemmed and enchanted. Was perfect for alts and speedruns. Now once they are soulbound, they are stuck on the character that equips them.

Nope. Some enchants can’t be used at certain levels.

It’s not. Some enchants have level requirements, even if they work on lowbie levels. We used to be able to pass them to others, enchant and gem, then pass them back.

So wait for them to become Warbound like Blizz has stated. The current Warbound-Until-Equipped status is a bug.

The message says the fix is coming in the 11.0.2 patch, so here is hoping for it to be fixed on Tuesday. Just sucks not being able to pass them around during prepatch event.

I won’t disagree with that.

Some of us have some really OLD enchants on heirloom gear, while the stats aren’t great they can’t be obtained anymore. I have multiple pieces with the TBC head enchants that can no longer be purchased, their stats aren’t great but it does add up.

Some older-enchants are soulbound or bind the item to you upon use.

Prior to the pre-patch, using such enchants on the heirlooms wouldn’t had been a problem – because they were a loophole of sorts and could still be transported across the characters throughout your account … That is now no longer the case however.

most Heirlooms you can’t gem and you can mail enchant scrolls to alts as heirlooms you can pull any number of each piece from the heirloom tab…pointless to mail them. Gems and enchants can be mailed so I don’t see the point of this thread in the slightest, not Sunday yet people

I wish they would just delete heirloom gear (or just make a transmog).

Attaching a exp boost to gear is one of those “blizzard moment” ideas that we’ve been stuck with for over 10 years.

They actually found a way to make leveling even more boring by making every possible piece of loot you get automatic vendor trash.

Ngl didn’t even know you could enchant heirlooms.

I didn’t know you could pass them around.

I just pull new stuff from the place and put new things on them with the stuff. ezpz.
