In 9.2.5 here's how to do Torghast

Imagine if it were a completely random experience set in something like the Caverns of time where:
one floor might be WC1 Orcs storming Stormwind,
and then right into the Third war where you have to stop Naga from occupying one of Arthas’ Frozen Throne obelisks
then on up to floor 3 where you have to help Thrall save the Tauren from rampaging centaurs
then off to a Naga island where you witness Sen’Jin sacrificing himself to save the Darkspear trolls
And finally fighting the boss: lets say it’s Anasterion trying to… uhh… ‘Liberate’ the northern Amani Empire from some forest troll Loas.

It would be so awesome to have 30 or so scenarios to go through with a different buff for each one which would offer a great opportunity to experience niche lore from the 20+ years they have to draw from. And it’s evergreen content using existing models they can always add to.

Such wasted opportunities.

I’ll do you one better. WHY do Torghast?

They’ve made it a habit to do this every expansion at this point.

  1. Advertises novel new content for next expansion that breaks the monotony of dungeons and raids. (Garrisons, Warfronts, Island Expeditions, Torghast)

  2. Implement new content in unfinished state. Playable, but without fun factor. Sometimes without rewards, ease of access, etc.

  3. “Well we guess players don’t like this kind of content, so it won’t be back next expansion”

I wish we got more of the backstory on wtf was going on from 8.2 until now. Something has obviously occurred outside of the lawsuit, and whatever it was seems to have remained ignorant of the effect on the game.

I wish they wouod add some drops to season 4 torgast you can ttade for armor in that place in season 4. Add some brokers for broker dailies in there for some currencies snd transmog.

The vendor could have a some fun cosmetics and caches like the island expedition vendors.

And the armor vendors could get appropriatw item levels depending on how far you push and rank of difficulty.

I wish the armor vendor as well could be used for creation catalyst.

And be random shadowlands items like the Argus vendor for argunite.

I am definitely going to try the gauntlet thing. I could do with another mount.

You can get one of those walking hand mounts from there right? I still have yet to acquire one, that might be enough to get me back in there…maybe.

Something must be wrong with me then, because I’ve found it to be fun since day one.

Also, considering that the third floor is essentially a break with a vendor, and the fifth is another vendor with the boss, isn’t it technically three floors (plus a boss fight) already?

I didn’t think you could but I’m hoping I’m wrong. That is the one mount-type in Shadowlands I don’t have and do want.

Anyone know?

Good point.

I was gone for about nine months going into April. Are you saying that Torghast is a Threads of Fate option now?
Are you also saying that it’s extremely viable for leveling alts?

If so, I think I know what I’m doing this week.

Yeah id make floor 3 the boss though.

WoW needs more horizontal content for long term rather than just making stuff for one expansion and then leaving it dead after that.

Odd thing to say in a thread you made to lecture and condescend to players you don’t know.

I don’t think Torghast can be saved. It was released in such a bad and super mandatory state that most players won’t give it another chance. It could have been an awesome gameplay feature, but even if it starts raining BiS gear it’s going to be remember as one of the worst parts of SL.

They do seem to be resurrecting things and I’m hopeful about that, but it’s very piecemeal. I hope they can pull it all together in the near future.

i have really loved torghast from the very start and have enjoyed all the changes and additions they have made to it. my one and only issue, and i don’t know how true this still is, but is to absolutely make sure every class and spec has viable anima power options that make you feel really powerful and make torghast fun. at launch i really only enjoyed it on my warrior and struggled on my hunter. since coming back my hunter now has a great time too - so he was fixed - but i wonder/hope if thats true for the rest of the class/combos. that was the biggest, legitimate complaint i remember from launch was some classes/specs just not being able to solo. thats been fixed for my two characters but i hope thats true for everyone else as well.

i honestly look forward to more torghast-like content. randomized dungeons, randomized power. i found it fun. reminded me of Anarchy Online’s old randomized mission dungeon system. I hope we get more torghast like solo content.

agree with both these sentiments. i am really glad they are working on timewalking. i really want timewalking to be a permanent, all-the-time thing and maybe even give it new rewards. as for torghast/island expeditions/etc i want more content like that as well but want it to matter/carry over more than a single expansion. i really hope all this effort into torghast isnt just thrown away at the end of the expansion. i want more content like this.

Class? Maybe. Spec, no, it’s not there yet. And with some obvious unforced errors. Shadowpriest was clearly given powers by an intern. So many possibilities and what they have is all so bad.

Playing wow with others is like driving around others. I like most people i meet but i hate every human driving a vehicle around me.

Driving brings out the worst and most selfish traits in human beings and so does playing wow

why the hate for solo players in torghast? i find it to be an enjoyable and relaxing activity to do on my own.
