You tried Torghast in 9.0. You hated that it was mandatory. - FINE
But now, it’s different. The wings are shorter, the options for layers are more numerous, the box of many things exists, and you can do the gauntlet! And TODAY, all the wings are open.
I’ve sat here and heard all your complaints and so out of the goodness of my magma-filled heart, I wanted to put together a guide:
Solo players:
Wait until you hate everyone
Pour yourself your favorite drink
Put on your favorite playlist
Take a deep breath
Toon out from the world, get some sick powers, nuke stuff
People in good guilds:
Plan your outing 2 days in advance
Put it on the guild calendar
Pour yourself your favorite drink
Jump on comms
Make some memories with the guild
Achievement hunters:
Have you not been doing this?
Why? This is exactly the sort of thing you should be doing
Have you seen the Tower Ranger title? They just made it easier, you don’t need JG 8 now
I’m seriously…I’m not mad I’m just disappointed.
PSA: If WoW players had a racial it would be “Nagativity Bias: Player sees everything 15% worse than it really is. In Torghast, this becomes 30%” But today is a new dawn my friends. And you can enjoy yourself in ways UNIMAGINABLE in 9.0.
With the JG changes, I have no reason to push past layer 4 aside for completionism purposes. Getting the Extremely Ravenous achievement has been a pain, I came back to the game in March after a year+ break and haven’t seen the Night Fae/Prisoner mobs once.
It was really fun, did the first two tower things started to climb and well its just a chance thing with what you get to fight the bosses. really would like to do this more but its to hard solo even as a tank spec. wish they had or i might be missing the option for group finder. asked a few people in guild and only got hate about the place.
Torghast is actually fun now that it’s developed. The powers are fun, it provides great solo play. Like Thunda said, it’s a pity they’ll now abandon it. If only it had been well developed when the expansion launched, it never would’ve received the backlash it did.
BUT… you can only make one first impression and a lot of players just don’t want to do Torghast because for about a year it absolutely sucked and was mandatory, and that among other things caused people to hate it. It’s good that they took steps to try fixing it but for many, possibly most, it’s just tainted.
As a further example
You can solo que for Warfronts now as a 5 man. Someone could argue Warfronts are in the best shape they have ever been in, but nobody’s really doing it despite all the collectables and cosmetics still being accessible.
So, I think if you weren’t keen on it before, you’re not going to give it a chance now. Which really is a shame: Torghast could have been great. Imagine if it were an actual roguelike with infinite variety.
I didn’t know you could solo-queue it. They’ve got a major comms problem in Irvine. They’ve grown too comfortable letting auxiliary outlets explain everything for them.
