I don’t like group content. I don’t like teamwork.
Now you must be thinking “then why would you play an MMO?”
I like having people around to talk to, to trade with, to have fun, make jokes, appreciate transmog, etc.
I just don’t want the inscrutable whims of others to decide or even influence if, when, where and how I play my video games.
So for the most part of my over 10 years of WoW, I’ve stuck with the solo gameplay that was there for me, which always had subpar content and rewards.
(With a few punctual exceptions like Warlock Green Fire and the Mage Tower)
Now I finally have a niche of content to play. And it even rewards real gear. I’m now wearing a mix of Champion and Hero armor. That might not sound impressive to you, but I’m used to World Quest armor, with the occasional World Boss lucky piece included.
I just like that there’s something fun and reasonably short that i can do on my own, on a whim, that will give my alts some decent gear and keep them semi relevant.
I think the best thing in recent WoW for me was the first 24 hours of Season of Discovery when we didn’t know everything about the runes and people were talking and figuring it out and it was a whole social experience without the insistence that everybody use the optimized builds.
Delves are a really solid foundation too, though. I have a few things I’d like them to fix, most of which can be summed up with “for the love of god please make Brann’s AI smarter”.
Me doing ?? Zekvir earlier today watching Brann shout “Don’t stand THERE!” while dying because he never moved out of any of the aoes. All of phase 2 i had to spend the majority of my holy power WoGing him, so he in turn could keep me alive.
Yeah, it’s pretty awesome to have not only a way to upgrade our gear with currency, but also a way to work towards higher ilevel gear on our own or in small groups.
My opinions on delves are still evolving. I’m still somewhere between first impressions and figuring out where they fit into my gameplay loop.
Given how much time I’ve been spending fishing so far this expansion I feel like the proverbial cat that ignores the fancy toy and plays with the box it came in.
Nah i did it as Ret. Brann could keep me alive fine i just had to return the favor in phase 2.
I did get him today at 609 with a level 40 brann. Did have to LoH him twice during the encounter and he still died right before the end. At that point i was like “whatever i can do 3% without him”
I also love delves, they’re my main end game content right now. If not for delves, I would have probably not played at all. I like that I can challenge myself, and get some great rewards for success. Nobody rages if I fail.
I’ve been doing tier 8 since I was 585, and I love that I get some meaty upgrades for my struggles. It feels great, and I can go at my own pace. You just don’t have the same kind of rewarding challenges in pugs, where everyone rages.
I also love the fact that I can play delves with my brother, just two of us. Until now, two of us could only play PvP together. But now there’s a valid end game PvE path.
Yes, they are pretty nice, but to be honest they could be better. After the third week, they aren’t that exciting any more. But I think they are gonna improve.
