Releasing a fresh Vanilla server without Molten Core for at least a few weeks would improve the quality of the game considerably:
- 50-60 Dungeons would be relevant, and more populated.
- Speed runners would have more competition when new phases release.
- Professions would create more value (i.e. Arcanite Reaper might actually be worth to some).
- Casual players who don’t speed run wouldn’t have as much FOMO.
Releasing Molten Core without Ragnaros or Onyxia would have a similar, positive effect on the community.

Honestly mc has nothing to do with prebis dungeon relevancy or crafting.
This is just gatekeeping players who are able to do it
Time-gating, to be accurate.
Also, can you explain how access to epics doesn’t invalidate blues?
I’m new to Classic. Are dungeons just hard to put together now?
Mark of the Chosen is a green trinket first available at level 39 and undeniably better than every blue/purple item in the game for the purposes of tanking. Part of the charm of Classic is there being odd little quirks like that. For rogues, a similar trend is observed in their Dungeon 2.0 set. The Shadowcraft/Darkmantle energy proc, which requires repeated dungeon dives to obtain, has the potential to surpass items found in Naxx.

It largely depends on where and who you play with. Larger realms will have the higher probability of having folks available for the dungeon but not necessarily interested in doing so.
Because you need blues to get those epics.
Of course better guilds will need less blues.
But that’s it.
It’s gear progression.
Time gating = phase 1-6. Holding off mc only gatekeeps enjoyment for the top 5% of the population.
Mc being out really has no effect on me or you as a whole

Molten Core does not require good gear to complete. It’s extremely easy to today’s average player.
Well that’s molten cores problem.
Pushing it back is not going to accomplish what you are thinking it would
Feel free to critique any of the suppositions I made in the OP.

Sure.
-50-60 dungeons are always going to be relevant early game. Because Classic servers are locked to the 1.12 patch and the blues are good. Original vanilla had different itemization because it went through earlier patches. MC would take a lot longer on classic if we had 1.2 itemization. BRD for savage gladiator chain, Ban thok sash, skyshroud leggings etc.
-Speed runners are not going to have any other competition than they would have otherwise (other speed run guilds). They practice their technique, and they practice alot more than you might think. Random guilds are not going to challenge sophisticated speed guilds by nature.
-proffessions have value, but again, since classic is based off of a locked 1.12 patch, there are competitive items that can simply be bought or looted from a dungeon. Arcanite reaper can’t hold up to the unstoppable force, for example. You can craft arcanite reaper if you wish to not wait on a rag weapon.
-casual players should not be concerned with the progression of a more hardcore playerbase

You make some good points!
I would also argue that Alterac Valley should be time-gated if my other points were to hold true–for the obvious reason you pointed out.
-casual players should not be concerned with the progression of a more hardcore playerbase
While you are right about this–the reality is that the hardcore and meta strategies seep into the entire player base. FOMO will happen.
Possibly. But this is simply unavoidable. It happened in clasic, tbc, and its happening in wrath. It happens on retail. It’s just the way the game goes
because itemization in vanilla is garbage and a lot of MC gear isn’t better than dungeon blues and crafted items

Precisely. I didn’t wear like anything as a healer in classic from MC because my prebis was better
Nothing like passing on epics until Naxx because some random green with +12 shadow damage was better than anything else
While I agree that certain items, like Hand of Justice, will not be replaced, certain items like Ironfoe or Baron Rivendare’s Runeblade have no incentive to farm. There are plethora weapons in MC and Ony, which are trivial content today.
I mean if MC comes out week 1 or week 3 wouldn’t increase the incentive to farm things that aren’t bis
Ironfoe would be BiS though…
not if MC is coming out, regardless of what delay you put on it coming out, and dal’rend is still better than ironfoe for the fury warriors you’re going to be stacking.
