You are little bit too young. The golden age was the late '80s and early '90s when there was a substantial cost and technical barrier to going online and accountability for bad behavior. Once access became cheap and anonymous through AOL the Internet rapidly devolved into lolcats and Barrens chat.

Yes, to a point. I still remember coworkers flaming others on USENET because they dared to ask a question which was answered in massive documents, you know, RTFM. The Internet was a place you weren’t anyone to be taken seriously if your server name wasn’t “Frink.”

True that. Although part of the fun was a good flame war. The old flamers make Preheat look like a bumbling amateur. Thing is, once you plonked someone - if they managed to survive the War and Peace mail bombing - it was rare to see them again. Usenet accounts weren’t a dime a dozen.

My teenage nephews do. My brother and I teased them in pig latin when they were little and they learned pretty fast. They never use it though.

I either run into or Google a lot of things, but sometimes you just skip it all and ask what the hell people mean.

Yeah. I think it’s actually a de-evolution from (◕ω◕ ) when people either can’t be bothered to copy+paste or the website doesn’t allow for non-standard ascii characters, so they revert to a simple owo.

When u have no idea what anything is/means google it.

Honestly, I’m not exactly young anymore and I’m still aware of what those words are or in which context they’re used in… and truth be told, I kind of hate myself for it so, you’re not missing out.
I have literally never seen any guild use ‘Lifestyle’ as a descriptor for anything but ERP / Kink stuff (probably too avoid being so blatant that the guild ad becomes reportable). I’ve also only ever seen the term used on Moon Guard in the first place. Never saw it anywhere else, and I didn’t main on Moon Guard until the latter half of BfA (played since WotLK).
That sounds like an awesome pair of books. I’m seriously envious.
