I'm turning 40 soon, and I have no idea what some of you write

Is it an old age thing? Or am I just too distracted to keep up with the lingo?

I’m looking at trade chat and I have no idea what the following combination of letters mean:

  • uwu
  • Poggers
  • Bussy
  • owo
  • “Lifestyle” in the context of WoW
  • And a whole lot of scripture (??) but that’s not foreign to me lol.

I mean this is just a literal sample of words from the last five minutes in trade chat.

Anyone else feel out of touch with the current social colloquialisms of youthsss?

it’s just a matter of what you’re exposed to. I’ll be 40 this year and know what those things mean but… you’re not missing anything

I’ll be 30 in a few months and to be honest I am equally confused at most of the internet stuff like this mostly because I don’t really watch streamers xD

OBEY the fur.

uwu and owo are anime’ish emoji things that vaguely mean “cute and related stuff dependent upon context.” (It’s a blushing face, I’m not sure if I can use the proper words.)

Poggers is a Twitch emote “Pogchamp,” that means “really excited.” Also gets used to mean something was really awesome.

Bussy… replace the B with a P

Lifestyle is how you play.

So it’s from streamer culture, something happens during the stream and they all get hyped and spam those words over and over again. They’re reaction emojis basically. :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: poggers in the chat boys

Loud noises, the same memes repeated over and over again until it becomes a meme to post the meme or reference another meme. Trust me bro you’re missing out on nothing.

Basically this link below.

As far as I’m aware “uwu” and “owo” are supposed to be faces. The first one is with eyes closed, the other with them open, and the w is like a cat mouth.

“Poggers” is a corruption of “Pog” which is a corruption of “Potg” which means “play of the game”. Just think of it as “that was great!” or something simliar.

No idea about bussy. That’s new to me.

I’d have to see “lifestyle” in context. Otherwise, I’m not sure where that’s coming from either.

Then again, I could be completely wrong on even the things I think I know, heh.

For example: OwO Whats this? UwU

PogChamp is for an actual good moment. Poggers is a mocking version of that. Example:
Got the drop Pog (champ)
GOT NO LOOT POGGERS

no comment

The letters Mason? What do they mean?

what the heck is a bussy?

i don’t know what the u ones mean either…

40 isn’t old, and several of the things you listed have been around for quite a while. You’ll hear a mix of common and disparate vocabulary from community to community.

Is Pog the same as PAWG?

Cat faces made from text.

Poggers/Pogchamp refer to an emote on Twitch with the same name. Specifically, this guy’s face:

Sort of an excited “OH YES!” emote. There are hundreds of variants using different characters in the wild, like Pokemon.

Short for boy, uh, cat. Another way to refer to a man’s behind.

The sheer amount of people on here that don’t know what bussy means astounds me. Here, let me show you…

Poggers can be used sarcastically, or it can be used straight.

UwU and OwO are blushing anime face emojis. I’m not sure if the forum will let me use the concept it’s often used for, but it starts with an L.
Sometimes it just means cute. Like most emojis, it doesn’t have one use/meaning.

I’m learning some of the newer ones as I go.

I get the vague meaning of UwU, I’d never heard of Poggers before.

Most of the slang from my time growing up (at least that I was exposed to) was just the advent of acronyms. BRB, LOL, ROLF, ROLFMOA, LMAO, NSFW, etc. Even I don’t know them all. Some got ridiculously long like 12 letters for a whole sentence.

Then we had stuff like L33t and epeen and pewpew.

Ones that are of newer generations that I’ve picked up is Yeet and Sus. I have actually come to say those in everyday conversation. I love the word Yeet for some reason, I even got a set of glass dice with gold numbers and the 20 is “YEET” and the 1 is the F word. I love them.

I’m 34 and “poggers” is the only one I get, and that’s due to a few zoomers in my guild.

“Play of Game” So a Pogger is someone who gets play of the game.

Oh you forgot ,“Broken” and “mob” ,you’ll love the meanings of these.
